TCU vs Baylor

Hi all,
So as I am approaching the deadline for choosing a university, I’m finding myself in a bit of a dilemma. I was accepted to both of my top choice schools, TCU and Baylor. TCU offered me no scholarships or financial aid, and Baylor offered me a $15K per year scholarship. I really feel like TCU is the best fit for me and where I would be happiest, but I’m not sure if it is up to par with Baylor’s academics, and if it is worth paying the full tuition price tag for TCU, which is the more expensive school of the two. I was also not eligible for any federal financial aid, so I will be paying the full $66K a year if I choose TCU. If anyone has any advice or perspectives on which university is more prestigious and the better long-term investment, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Thanks!

The price tag for Baylor and TCU are within $5k of each other all in. I definitely have never thought of Baylor as more prestigious than TCU and I’m born and raised here. They’re pretty competitive academically. I wouldn’t say one is better than the other. What are you studying? My son is attending TCU in the fall. They’re both great schools. Do you like small town or a bigger city? There’s always a lot going on in Ft. Worth. There’s nothing really in Waco outside of campus TCU is slightly bigger than Baylor student population. If you’re okay with a small country town then you should go with Baylor for sure to save money!

I think Baylor has more students than TCU. I’m a Baylor grad. Loved it. My BIL is a TCU grad. Loved it. Can’t go wrong here. I see them as peer institutions. I think if you are a good fit at one, you’d probably be a good fit at the other as well. Visit if you haven’t already done so.

@Txmusicmom Thank you for your insights! I am planning on studying Political Science and Economics, as I hope to go to law school. I’m from Houston, so I do prefer a more urban environment. I honestly think both schools are pretty much on the same level, but Baylor gave me a scholarship and TCU did not. However, I feel like TCU is the best fit for me! I talked it over with my parents and we worked out the finances so I would be able to attend TCU, but I feel a bit guilty about spending so much for an undergrad degree.

@BearHouse Thanks for your response! My mom is a Baylor grad as well, as are a few other family members, and they all enjoyed their experiences! I don’t think I can go wrong with either school, as they are both highly regarded in the state.
