TCU Vs. COW

Okie, so the admission season was over and now I gotta make the choice between these two schools, Texas Christian University and College of Wooster. Both offered me pretty much equal financial aid packages so money is not to be concerned here, I am talking about education, social life, surrounding city and such. I am thinking about majoring in econ and also plan to go to grad school. I am an international student btw.
Thank you for any advice, your input is much appreciated.

ah. a fellow international.
^___________^
I only know about TCU. apparently it's pretty good, but i heard that the city wasn't too exciting.
This is from someone who got full-rides @ both and chose SMU.

You may be the first person to ever compare those two schools as they seem very different. How did you decide to apply to these two schools? I live in Texas so only know about TCU. It is located in Fort Worth which is a nice but rather quiet city with good museums and a cowboy/western theme for the downtown. It is part of the larger Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Dallas is a large city with lots of nightlife, restaurants and shopping. I'm not sure where you are from but there seem to be quite a few people from Asia living in north dallas. The weather can be extreme with 100 degree temperatures in the summer and cold winter days. TCU has a lot of fraternities and sororities and is also know for sports. Perhaps you could find information on COW on an Ohio thread. All I know about it is that Ohio got a lot of snow this year.

Thank you guys very much
I was really disappointed with the application outcomes as those are my safety schools. Actually, I was in Fort Worth last year and visited TCU, everything seemed to be cool enough there. I just wonder how COW is; their well known Independent study program sounds great and a lot of COW graduates go to good graduate schools. Besides, I also feel like the liberal arts environment.
Well, to me it is a tough decision to make. I desperately need some more advices :(

Both are good, but I think TCU has more of a reputation.

Congratulations on your acceptances. You are fortunate to have two good choices. Have you read the information about COW in the book Colleges That Change Lives? It sounds very intellectual and focused on learning. The independent study project seems to be big party of the school. I have not attended TCU but the impression I get from the students I know going there or thinking about going there is that it is more of a social pre-professional atmosphere. So if you want a more intellectual atmosphere then COW sounds like a good choice. Also, you might consider where you think you will want to live after you graduate. TCU is well known in Texas but COW is not and I am guessing the reverse may be true also. But it would be good to get more advice, especially from people in Ohio. Maybe you could post your thread again with a different title??? Good luck.

In the U.S., unfortunately, the degree of public recognition of a college or university is usually a function of how prominent its athletic teams are. Colleges choose to participate in Divisions I, II, or III in athletics with Division I institutions on TV every weekend, and Division III teams playing for their own enjoyment, out of the public eye. That's the main reason that TCU (I) is better-known than Wooster (III). Wooster, Ohio is also a small town compared to Ft. Worth, which is part of the Dallas metropolitan area. But if it was me, I'd be at COW. Among people who know small liberal arts colleges, it's got significant renown and respect. A girl from our small Georgia town went there a few years ago, then her brother, then another girl from our church - there are probably five kids from our town who've now gone there, as well as the daughter of a former President of our local university. All of them are passionate about it. If a sense of community is of value to you and you're not turned off by small-town life, I'd imagine that you'd love Wooster.

Great advices there!
Yeah, I know TCU has a pretty big football team but that's not reason I should come there. In fact, I hope by enrolling at COW I may be able to do sports like soccer. I only concern about the small town setting, really, how small it is because I am living in an urban scene now. So, by now I think I will go to COW. Thank y'all again!

TCU!
It has a better Reputation, it is surrounded by a big metropolitan area.
Its Urban, and it's not too far from dt Fort Worth.
Much of the Exciting stuff is in Dallas though, sorry to say.
but Fort Worth is the fastest growing city in the US... something big will eventually happen...LOL
