Oh sorry. I think I agreed to it. I haven’t heard anything yet.
Don’t worry too much. Some people wont see a change until next Thursday.
Hey guys! I also completed the survey and asked to be contacted about additional placement and my TF status still says Under Review and none of my documents have been verified. Trying not to panic and reading ya’lls post is keeping me from jumping off the ledge! Lbvs
TF Update: After emailing the TF Team yesterday with the additional documentation they have asked for, my status changed from “incomplete” back to “under review”. All 3 of my documents have been verified with a “yes”. With my status being back under review, the message “We have not yet reviewed your application or documents.” has reappeared confirming my theory that it’s a generic message associated with the “under review” status. Ignore it and look out for “yes” or “n/a” in your actual columns.
As far as pursuing a masters during the commitment, that depends upon what region I am placed in.
Hey guys! I was emailed today to add another document for my transitional funding! I wasn’t sure if this is a good sign!! I have Hawaii listed as my number 1! And special education and elementary education as my top subject areas!! So nervous to see what happens! I really want Hawaii! Do you guys thinK it’s super popular?
@Bfiggie The need for additional documentation is a good sign! Theory is they won’t bother collecting additional documents or reviewing documents if you are not accepted. It’d be a waste of time reviewing documents for people that may be rejected. Keeping my fingers crossed for you. I do not believe Hawaii is a popular region. On the map, the popular regions were grey (if my memory serves me correctly) and included LA, Chicago, NYC, and DC that I remember off the top of my head. A lot of other east coast cities were popular as well. Hawaii tends not to be as popular I think because of the cost of living, racism, & dog quarantines. Don’t mark my word for it though- it may have been one of the popular regions.
Now my TF status says: “Need-Based Transitional Funding Application Status: Incomplete
We have reviewed your application and supporting documents and will need more information before we are able to give you an award. Please see the table below for a list of the specific documents or information we need to complete your application.”
Still nothing. Does anyone know who actually accepts/rejects you?
@93Polarbear I read on last year’s thread the decision is made immediately after you final interview, and the rest of the time is spent placing you. So, if this is true, my guess is the final interviewer? As usual, this is all speculation though hahaa
I have nothing too although, I did send my final interviewer a thank you note, which she actually responded to. Not sure what that means, though.
Thanks for the information. I know some people didn’t see a change until the big day.
@93Polarbear - I’ve seen people mention that a few times. Is that a rumor, or is that covered somewhere in last year’s thread? Would love to read that for myself, haha.
I hope the theory is right! I just got an email requesting more info. They need a different screen shot for my Pell grant and I also underestimated my cost of tuition. Fingers crossed that this is good news! One week guys!!
@letsgotfauau Yea, I believe I read about it in the 2015 thread. Someone didn’t hear back until the notification day.
@awesomebins @93Polarbear I’ve been under the assumption that our interviewers made the final decision and admissions knew who was going to get accepted or not that very day, however, my interviewers said that they do not make the final decision, so now I’m completely unsure who has the final say so.
@shellijax223 I believe this is a good sign!
@letsgotfauau It is definitely true that some people didn’t see a change until the big day!
I still think a lot of people in previous threads were confused about the complete on the general check off list vs an actual complete on the transitional funding page, thus throwing off the data throughout the thread.
I’m almost on page 100 out of over 200 pages from the thread back in 2011 for the 2012 corps and the TF rumor seems to be true in that thread as well. I’ve been guessing whether certain people made it or not based on their updates before I get to decision day pages in the thread, and TF changes were a huge indicator. That’s still not to say that some changes did not take place until the big day.
It’s still very hard to be 100% sure about what’s presented in these threads. As it got closer to decision day and some people didn’t see changes, they started bad mouthing TFA almost as a defense mechanism to soften their expected rejection. It was hard to take data from people like that seriously.
I also want to let everyone know NOT to get your hopes up solely based on being invited to webinars. As I was reading through previous threads, the night before the big day, people attended subject specific webinars and thought this was a good sign they got in. They didn’t and were TICKED OFF at TFA. They claimed it was a waste of time in their lives & TFA led them on. It’s important to remember tons of different departments & people have access to our applications. If you’ve indicated certain regions or subjects, there may be a webinar hosted to shed some light on it. I don’t think the people who reach out to you & invite you to these things know whether you’ve been admitted or not.
A lot of people also hounded TFA & recruiters with emails asking about the TF rumor. I was amazed that people would be so ballsy. Of course they were told its false, but these threads have indicated otherwise.
Someone else emailed TFA asking a stupid (sorry to say that) question & they were directed back to the website for the answer.
I share these things to warn you guys about potentially annoying TFA Staff. I’m sure with the 5DL process fully rolling, they have a ton on their plate in addition to our stuff. I would never have the courage to email staff with absurd questions anyway. I feel like they would pull up my app as they read the email and reject me on the spot haha.
P.S. Those people I mentioned were rejected.
We are in our final week until the big day. Let’s stay strong and stick together and make sure this wait does not drive us to the brink of insanity where we hound TFA straight into our rejection haha.
Everyone in our thread seems to be very levelheaded about this whole process, so I am sure we won’t have a repeat of previous threads, but I still like to share any and all information that I found pretty useful to my 4DL Fam.
@smilingsunflower I miss you boo! Hope you will rejoin us on the big day.
To those on spring break: E N J O Y!
To the 5DL babies waiting on their phone interview invite or skipping straight to the final: GREAT LUCK!
@TFA2016AJ Thanks for the information. I haven’t done as much research as you so i’ll take your advice. Also, I know decisions are made after the final interview, but have you noticed that a large majority of those invited straight to the final interview were ultimately accepted? I think I only saw 1 or 2 that went straight to the final interview and then were rejected. Most go on to be accepted from what I have observed. I don’t know if that’s a false correlation or not.
@TFA2016AJ aww! I miss you too! I was going to come back and post eventually. I had midterms right after interviews and now I’m on spring break! I’ll start posting regularly leading up to decisions.
@93Polarbear Yes. A large majority of those invited straight to the final were ultimately accepted, though I’ve read about quite a few that weren’t. If you were invited straight to the final, you clearly possess what they look for, so I’m thinking your final interview day makes or break you. A lot of posts state that the final interview doesn’t hold much weight & your entire process leading up to it is considered greatly, but that’s just dumb- (sorry I didn’t make this sound nicer). But seriously, the final interview is the most intense part, no way people think it’s just a grain of salt. I think it holds the most weight- once again, I believe the final interview is the deciding factor for you straight to the final interview applicants because clearly the rest of your app was great.
Thanks for all of this, guys. The thing for me is I feel like my final interview wasn’t the greatest. My interviewer was really nice, but I was just thrown off guard by many questions. I’m hoping TFA emailing me about TF stuff is a good sign, but still really skeptical because of my final interview.
