Hi guys! I created this thread for students who are currently in their Junior year and applied for the 2016 corps. Just wanted to see who else applied/what you think of the process so far! I’ve been invited to the final interview in a couple weeks.
Congrats! I’m also continuing w/ the application process as a junior. (:
Hi, guys! I’m also a junior. I’ve been invited directly to the final interview in early April. Where are you guys hoping to teach? Personally, I’ve also applied to another teacher training and certification program through my university, so a lot of whether or not I go ahead with TFA would be where I was placed.
I’m thinking New Orleans, Bay Area, Atlanta, and San Antonio. I’m from Austin, TX, by the way.
Yeah I am looking at a few other alternative teaching programs as well - especially w/ all the criticism that has come about w/ TFA. So, I’m hoping to get an acceptance and then decide from there.
I would love to teach in Hawaii or the Bay Area I’m from Michigan
Hey yall! I’m also applying for the Junior Deadline and am pretty nervous as I am so surprised that I made it to the final interview. My phone interview went okay but I couldn’t really get a vibe through her. The process is a lot for me at least as it is also so far away so it’s hard to think about. I would love to teach in a big city NY, Boston, Philly, DC, California and Chicago, pretty much anywhere with a city near by.
I’m hoping to teach elementary or middle or high school history or math. I’m not a education major so I am very nervous for this whole process.
Just realized that this thread exists–it’s so nice to get to know some other applicants! I’m pretty excited to get underway with the final interview process. Can’t wait to select my placement preferences, I would love to work in Massachusetts, but I’d be happy just about anywhere, given TFA’s mission. When are you guys looking to interview? Good luck signing up tonight!
Also, is anyone else doing the online Q&As they’re offering?
What time can we sign up for it?
Im hoping to get placed in DC, Mass, or Atlanta so fingers crossed! @wayyyyyyover9000 I’m from Michigan too! But I go to school out of state. Where are you guys doing your interviews? I signed up for DC on April 7th at the TFA location
Also theres no dates out for Summer 2016 training right? Are you guys just hoping you’ll be able to make the dates of the city you’re placed in?
I don’t have anything planned right now for 2016 so yes that is my plan. I guess if you have anything for next summer put it done under conflicts. It’s crazy to think about because it is so far away
I have been waiting for this thread! I was invited to go directly to the final interview. I am so nervous because I have to do a virtual interview and it will be in the middle of the night. I’m debating getting a hotel for the night so I can have a quiet space, haha! I am hoping to teach in one of the Native Alliance regions. Did anyone get contacted to have an additional phone conversation? I’m not sure what to expect from that but I guess it is to help us.
I set my interview for Monday the 6th, and luckily, it takes place across the street from my school.
I’ve also been accepted to the teaching program with my university that includes a summer teaching internship with Breakthrough. I think I’ll mention the internship in my interview.
Either way, hoping to teach high school English or History/Social Studies/Government. I’m an English and Public Health double-major with a History minor.
have you guy started to think about your lesson for the interview? that’s what I am the most nervous about…!
I think I’m going to something elementary like contraction words or something math related. Honestly I’m struggling with deciding what to do especially in 5 minutes! It’s going to be so fast!
Congrats to everyone headed to a final interview! I’m FREAKING OUT about the lesson plan, I’m interviewing in Charlotte next week!! Anyone have any tips??
Im so nervous for the lesson plan! I’m thinking I will teach elementary math or Spanish. Anyone doing a final interview in DC next week?
My interview is on Wednesday and im just struggling to make sure that i dont go over my time for the lesson plan. I’ve heard that you should try to shoot for 4 minutes because when you’re nervous and or have student involvement, the time can get away from you.
I definitely haven’t made up a lesson plan yet, and my interview is on Monday. I’m a hardcore procrastinator. Since I want to teach high school English, though, I think I will do a lesson on common meters in poetry.
@teenageriots how’d ur interview go?
