@philojunkie you were right, there are a few outliers with the TF thing. After combing through the past posts I noticed those whose Tf was not updated did not get in. I had convinced myself I didn’t get in because of that…but I guess I am an outlier. However, I am super sad you were not an outlier with me too :frowning:
Keep your head up, like I said before, there is a 1001 ways to become a teacher. Good luck and I hope to hear updates.

Congratulations to everyone accepted this deadline! Big welcome to the new additions to the NC family. No matter which region, the entire group is awesome!

My biggest piece of advice is to start prepping for your exam(s) now, especially if you’re taking Praxis exams. There is A LOT of content covered on them. I take mine next week, but I’m sure I’ll be retaking this summer. A lot of the information I never ever heard of. If you do not pass, you cannot teach.

Hopefully not too many people complain about the TF indicator so that future applicants can have an idea of what may potentially happen. I personally liked having some type of clue ahead of time. Going through this process for 4+ months is agonizing- any clue was appreciated.

What do you all mean by recruited? TFA takes many people (30-45) from my mid-sized private school, has a campus coordinator, gives seminars, etc. Would they all be considered recruits?

Got my ACCEPTANCE yesterday. I’m so excited. Anyone else going to be teaching in the Chicago area??

Turns out that I won’t be allowed to be in the Houston Corps. I have to get a re-assignment because I won’t be able to make it to the training because of graduation.

Hey y’all! Are any of you finding it difficult to meet the pre-institute costs of the program? For exams etc, travel, storage? I’ll be receiving TF, thank god, however in the current moment I barely have any funds due to my stipend paid job/high cost of living in the bay area. Anyone else dealing with this/have ideas for quick money? Thanks

@mallardblob I took recruited to mean that I was contacted by multiple people who encouraged me to apply as well as stuck around as contacts throughout the process. To put in perspective, I had around 7 people contacting me throughout my entire application process and I was even invited to the regional office near me for a day to be shown TFA corps member classrooms among other things. These same people then came to my campus to give a small workshop and reached out to me encouraging me to show up so I could talk more in depth about my stage of the application process.

Also, @awesomebins I thought I was the only one! I thankfully have a credit card with a fairly high limit and low monthly minimum payment. Thankfully, all I have had to pay for are tests because my current lease ends 2 weeks after my institute ends, so I am using that for storage. But if you are desperate for “quick” money, you could check craigslist and see if any events in your area need staff. Last year I worked a merchandise booth for a monster truck show at my school’s stadium and made a quick $180 for a day (~10hrs) of work. Also, there is giving plasma. Plasma pays about $50-$75 depending on where you are and you can do it like twice a week (don’t quote me on that).

Do you by chance know when we will receive our transitional funding?

@smilingsunflower in my region the information we received stated that the transitional funding will be distributed by the first week of residency/institute. I would check in your logistical onboarding information for specifics to your region. My region holds their own institute so it might be different than yours.

@cambam13 Thanks for the info! I’ll definitely check my institute information.

You guys can also contact TF & request early disbursal of the loan portion (NOT grant portion) of your award. You’ll have to fill out an application detailing what you need the funds for (travel to induction + institute, transcripts, testing, etc). If approved, you may get a couple hundred before the first week of training. @smilingsunflower & @awesomebins

TF is set to be deposited during the first week of training. Idk if that means induction or if it means Institute though =\
