Teacher Assistant bad for college apps? Should I drop for another class?

I’m taking 5 AP classes and TA(teacher assistant) because I was originally going to take 6 AP classes but all my requested classes couldn’t fit together so I had to drop 1. I chose TA quickly as a replacement because I was in a rush but the deadline to switch classes is Friday so I’m not sure if I should get into a CP/honor course or another AP class(probably can’t because most AP classes at my school require summerwork but a few student’s have done this and got an extension to do the work) or should I just stay as a TA for my 6th class?
The 5 AP classes I’m taking are:
AP Spanish Language
AP Statistics
AP Environmental Science
AP English Literature
AP Government(1st semester)/AP Microecon(2nd semester)

My son had a TA position for two years and he made out well with college applications. It’s something he wanted to do. I think it highlighted his leadership talents. He also developed friendships with the two teachers and they wrote recommendations for him. For some reason he is a TA now in college for one freshman class. He’s also an academic mentor whatever that means and holds tutoring sessions. As a TA you will have some down time and can use the time for studying. It’s better that you get great grades in those five AP classes than spread yourself too thin.

It’s fine. But we don’t know where you’re applying, for what probable major, and what other classes you’ve taken or missed.

I was a PE TA. Absolutely loved it! What better thing than playing football during the school day. I’m now at UCLA so I think having a TA as a class spot is totally fine.

We are told that colleges look at a TA position in high school just like a study hall so it doesn’t help or hurt. The reason that colleges give is that for some schools it just means the students simply make occasional photocopies, staples papers etc but are mostly are free to study. The suggestion is if the class is more involved request a letter of recommendation. What our school does offer that they say sounds great to colleges is to be involved with helping special needs students such as unified sports - helping out with a special needs gym class daily which focuses on getting kids active and helping to prepare kids for Special Olympics.

Why are you taking statistics as a math and Env science as a science?
Have you taken calculus? Have you taken Bio, chem and physics? Why not ap version of one of them?

Are you only taking 5 classes? What about taking an elective? Colleges do like to see more than just the 5 core subjects

^ op had 5 AP classes. That’s plenty and taking ta or study hall would be reasonable, or a “fun class” (CP)

Thanks, I took TA and I’m doing fine in all my classes now:)
