Is it important for one the teacher evaluation forms to be from the sciences and one from the humanities? And is it better for them to relate to your intended major? I am applying for molecular bio, but most of my math/science teachers have really poor writing skills. I am afraid their recommendations will be filled with comments such as "she is a bright student"... My plan is to give one to a history teacher and one to a French teacher, who might write something more distinguished. But I don't know... Any thoughts?

Give them to whichever teacher's know you best. If they really have something interesting to say about you, it'll come through whether or not they're an exceptional writer. I gave one to my Computer Science teacher of two years even though his writing is notoriously bad (He's had be proof letters to his colleagues) because we're very close and he knows me very well. Plus I took 5 semesters of courses with him :P (Well I TA'd one semester with him and took 4)....

Back on topic: Teacher's that know you the best is always the way to go unless the teacher is truly poor with words.

I asked my history teacher who knows me well and will undoubtedly write an excellent, probably funny rec, and my bio teacher because she knows me reasonably well. My French teacher found out that I wasn't planning on asking her today and she was kind of offended.....lol. I hope I made the right decision.

My French teacher knows me really well, though she is extremely irresponsible and just doesn't get things done. Better check how my ED rec is doing...

Science teachers can write terrific recs. At our school we could opt to have several recs sent to the guidance counselor, who would pick the best ones (without showing any to the student) and mail those.
