A teacher hasn’t submitted their evaluation on Common App, and my first application deadline is November first. If they don’t submit it before the deadline, what happens? I know the evaluation can still be submitted after the deadline, but will the school disregard my app if they look at it before the evaluation is submitted? (I’m applying to Vanderbilt btw)
We are dealing with this as well. S21 asked the teachers in the spring, officially requested through Naviance mid summer, sent thank you notes and gentle reminders about EA. One was submitted last week, one yesterday and we are still waiting for the one that is supposed to go to most of his schools. It is very frustrating that the kid’s future relies on someone else’s ability to meet a deadline.
Our school made an announcement over the loudspeaker, on Thursday to the kids, that although many of the EA, ED apps are due this weekend the teachers have a little extra time. I am guessing they had a few inquiries about the subject too!
If you are worried, you can call each college and ask, but when we called a couple of years ago, ALL of the schools said that there is extra time for the LORs and other third-party-sent materials (such as transcripts) to get in, they do not need in by the student application deadline.
I would politely remind the teacher of the application deadline.
Our DD’s teacher sent her an e-mail on Friday saying he is working on it and it will be in by Nov. 1. He has several he’s doing, so I thought that was nice of him to let them know the status.
