Teacher Letters of Recommendation

If Admissions doesn't specifically mention Teacher Letters of Recommendation requirements, do you send them anyway? Especially from private teacher. D is applying for BM-Voice and some Music Dept/Schools ask for them and some don't. Thanks!

Your best bet is to contact admissions and ask them. Some schools do not want them and will only throw them away if you send them anyways. From my understanding, schools get annoyed when they get extra materials. If they don’t specifically say NOT to send letters, it is probably fine, but I would just check!

Every school is going to want a letter of recommendation from a private for a VP student sooner or later and it may just be a case of knowing where to look on the web site; it may not be on the “main” admissions page, but will be within the music application area.
It’s hard to get a “feel” for a singer during the brief audition period and the private teacher up to that point knows the student’s abilities, work ethic, competition record, etc and the letter is also a place where the teacher can include their own qualifications which may offer connections that are useful.
Have her private teacher make copies of her/his letter, place them in envelopes which they then sign across the seal and include them with the application materials.

Thanks for the help!

My son got four recomendation letters and submitted them to all 4 schools that he applied at. One from his high school band director, one from his piano teacher, one from his trumpet teacher, and one from a college professor who he happened to know.

I have no idea if the letters made any difference, maybe they did get tossed, but he got into all four schools.
