Teacher messed up sending recommendations, what now?

I initially asked three teachers, one from 10th grade who knows me well and two others from 11th, to write me a recommendation for different schools. Since some schools (Stanford, Cornell, UPenn, Rice) take only 11th and 12th teacher recs, I told my 10th grade teacher to write the rest.

However, today I went onto my Common App and found out he sent them to ALL my schools, instead of the ones I specified to him previously. Since the four schools I listed above are extremely strict with recommendations, will this hurt my chances at admission to the four schools listed above, or will they just chose to ignore the letter?

Since I don't believe there is a way to retract the letter, should I also email the colleges to let them know of the mistake?

Any help/advice is appreciated :)

The best thing you can do is email the admission office saying just what you said above. I’m sure you’ll be fine.

Good luck! :)
