Teacher or RN?

I’m not sure what I want to major in now! I’ve always loved kids and helping people. SO, I thought teaching would be the best career for me. However, I also think nursing would be a good career. Whish is better for the futur(job growth. Thanks for all the help!

No one is going to be able to tell you which one will be a better fit for you. Will you be okay with the smaller paycheck of a teacher? Will you be able to see and handle the very tough things you’ll see as an RN? Being an RN is a lot more difficult than many think, and you are not always with patients, a very large amount of it is paperwork and updating charts. Is that something you would want to do for a career? Think about everything that goes into both of them. Both teachers and RNs are great jobs, do whatever will make you the happiest. Remember, this is likely going to be your career for many many years, which will bring you the most amount of happiness.

Being employed and well paid will make you happier. The number of students is decreasing, the number of sick, older people is increasing. If you like both, choose RN. If you like research, go to a school that offers Ph.D. programs (which will let you teach at a University), or is tied to a large academic medical center, so you can participate as an undergrad.

The downside of RN jobs is the medical hierarchy, so consider an APN career and locate in a state where you can practice independently. Other RN’s I know have gone to medical or law school.

How about becoming a pediatric RN–work in a children’s hospital.
