Some of the schools that I am applying to (RPI, JHU, and MIT) apparently have special forms for guidance counselors/teachers to fill out. I have my transcripts sent in, along with my class ranking, teacher recommendations, and guidance recommendation, but I never used any of those special forms. Will I be okay without them? I had this done quite a while ago, and it would be a shame if this was a detriment to my application.

MIT asks some pretty specific questions on their form that the common app doesn’t cover. They state (as I am sure you are aware) that the teacher can use either the form admissions provides or write their own letter that answers the questions. What sort of form did you send them anyway? I doubt you’re going to be “penalized” but you won’t be giving them information about all of the facets of an applicant that they consider.

I see… well, would I be alright if I used their forms and sent them in a few days after the deadline? It’s not like I didn’t have any recommendations, I just didn’t use their form Plus, to be 100% honest, I had a recommendation by a humanities teacher, but I don’t think guidance sent it in… so I’m going to have to do that anyways.
