Teacher Recs--what to give them?

I've heard of people giving teachers resumes so they can write a better letter and have more of a sense of what the student is interested in. But I don't want my teachers writing about my ECs, which are unrelated to their classes and my performance in them. I really don't see how a resume would help... I mean, the adcoms should get a good idea of my interests from MY essays and my ECs. So what SHOULD I give the teachers? How can I help them write the best letter? Would showing the teacher prior work from the class be a good idea? Should I try to brainstorm an anecdote they could include?

Write them a letter about your favorite parts of their class, and if your class work was particularly good, enclose one or two short pieces from that class.

Thanks, that’s a good idea. Anybody else?
