So, I've been trying to get some stuff ready for next year's application and realized I really need to get my recommendations. I feel like I kinda screwed myself by not asking the teachers after I finished the class (dual-enrollment, so the classes are only a quarter long) and now I'm wondering if its too late. For two of my teachers, the classes ended at the end of March. I got along really well with both teachers (chem and math) and still stop by to talk to my old calc teacher. I think he could write me a really good rec, but is it too late? ?? Its already finals week next week, and if I ask in the fall that will be 2-3 quarters after. :(

ask now (10char)

I say ask those teachers ASAP; at my school they don't even bother with rec's until senior year, which I don't understand at all.

Do college applications require that you submit recommendations strictly from teachers only? Whenever I apply, I want to include a recommendation from one of the Pharmacists that I work for. I want to major in Pharmacy at UNC-CH. I feel that if I have a recommendation from a Pharmacist (will have worked for him around 2 1/2 years by the time I apply), they will think highly of it.

Awesome, thanks for the help guys! I asked my chem teacher today and she said she'd be able to do it within the first couple weeks of summer quarter:)

P.S. I had one more question. Do you think it would be really bad to get a teacher rec from an online teacher? I took AP US and my other humanities class (English) online. I did well in the classes, with an A- both quarters for AP US and over 100% for English, but I don't know...I wish MIT didn't make us get a humanities rec :(

Csummerlin, I think they allow you to include supplemental recs if you feel it would add something that's not really shown from your application and other recs.

Csummerlin: My D included a "peer recommendation" (the name used on the app), which was a supervisor in a volunteer position she held for 4 years. So yes, you may indeed include an "outside" of school rec UNLESS the school SPECIFICALLY states academic class teachers only.
