Teacher Recs

I want to present my teachers w/ a nice organized packet. What should be included other than the official form. I’ve heard include a self-addressed, self-stamped envelope, an explanation of why you want to attend X Y & Z collegs…what do you guys think should be given to teachers?

It depends on your school/your teachers' policies. (Ex. I've heard of teachers limit who the number of students they will write recs for and students have to essentially write something/show the teacher that they deserve one of the recs. In contrast to my school and most other places, where you ask teachers that you have a good relationship with to write your recs.) However, generally a nice organized packet as you stated is good. Make recs as easy as it is on the teachers; you want them in a good mood when they write your recs. Definitely do self-addressed, self-stamped, and fill out as much of the rec form as you can for the teacher (ex. easy stuff like your name, the school your applying to (if common app rec form), address, etc). The explanation is optional (at least in my experience). Also, it would be good to give your teachers a copy of your resume so they know your achievements outside of class.

Additionally, give the recs to your teachers early, and make sure they know the deadlines.
