Teacher said he finished rec weeks ago, but the commonapp only said he started.

My teacher was shocked to know that his status on common app was "started" and not "submitted," since he submitted it weeks ago!

I mean what should I say to my teacher?

Go on to one of your colleges, then in the School Forms section, assign the teacher as the recommender. Hit save, then come out of it and go back in. It should be fine then.

But to assign the teacher as the recommender won’t you first have to remove the teacher as the recommender?

No? I don’t quite understand what you’re asking, sorry.

Once you’ve “invited” the teachers, they’ll be listed there under the list of Recommenders.

Then go to the school for the app you’re submitting, and on the School Forms page it will say something like “you need to select one more teacher” and it gives you a drop down list of all the teachers you’ve invited. Select the teacher you want and click SAVE. It will then show the teacher’s name and “submitted” in green and the date they submitted their recommendation.

Hey, thanks man that worked!

My teacher claimed he submitted my rec, but on common app, it’s not green and did not say “submitted” it only says “started.”

It will just say “started” until you actually assign him to the college. Do it as I explained earlier and you’ll see what I mean.

I DID assign him to my colleges. Maybe he hit “save” while thinking he hit “submit” or something.
