Teachers you love....and why

what teachers do you have that are completely insane...but you love them, or teachers that just get you?

My APUSH teacher.

He’s strictly professional (Not to mention is a Columbia Uni graduate… my dream school) and understands that students have needs as well. He gives us tons of work (hw’s everyday) however, he curves our grades by around 5% (so if you had a 90 in his class, it goes to a 95) because he understands that he gives enough work and hard exams and essays.

He also has a great teaching style, which I actually don’t sleep in class from. It was 10x better than my old APWH teacher and I got a 5 on his exam. So i’m hoping I get the same in APUSH.

My AP English Teacher -

The most down-to-earth guy who gives us tons of work, but acts like a student.

Precalc: He’s a really great teacher. Math has never come so easily to me before. Not only am I able to follow the lecture all the way through, but I understand why things work the way they do. People don’t like him because his class is pretty boring, and he’s really nerdy about math, but I think the nerdiness helps. He says things like “I love Trig Identities, they’re so much fun!” and although the entire class couldn’t disagree with him more, I think his positive attitude towards the topics helps us learn. Last year, my teacher would always say things like “Yeah, this lesson’s gonna be really hard, just bare through it…” and when she instills that into our minds, we’re already turned off by learning it, and I couldn’t keep myself to pay attention… so I really do like my teacher’s enthusiasm.

AP Lang: She’s possibly the nicest teacher I’ve ever had, and she’s also really understanding about our workloads, us forgetting things, etc. She manages her class time efficiently and hardly gives out any homework.

AP Physics: He’s able to simplify topics very easily. His lectures are about 30 minutes long, and then we have over an hour of class to just chill and do our homework. He’s a really cool guy overall and has a lot of great advice to give that isn’t pertinent to Physics.

AP Psych: Couldn’t care less about teaching anything, but he’s probably the coolest and funniest teacher that I’ve ever had. I’m entirely convinced that he’s only teaching for the hell of it, and hardly even knows what Psychology is. He simply loves the entertainment of the class room and refers to it as his stage.

I really liked my honors geometry teacher. He obviously liked me and would always tease that I failed when really I got A’s… He also always answered my questions, most of which were more advance than the stuff we needed to do. Most other teachers just tell me not to worry about it and never explain.

Another teacher I enjoyed was y honors bio teacher… She was really funny and didn’t really care what people though, she made fun of students and told us the funniest stories. My ap psych teacher is alot like this and I also really like him… Except his class is mostly lecture and really similar to a college class setting.

My coolest teachers have opened up their houses to students near AP testing or for college essay writing help. One teacher bakes stuff for students often and set up a trip to England for the entire Honors Brit. Lit. class.

My teachers love their students and go out of their way for them, but still assign enough homework to where my senses are dulled from lack of sleep by the end of the week. Pretty much every class is a great time : D.

My AP World teacher, she’s crazy, and doesn’t like her “regular” classes, but loves us. She’s really funny, because she’s kinda self-centered and focused on her, and is convinced she is the smartest person out there, but she’ll let us do anything, and we’ll talk about really random stuff.

My 8th grade history teacher was awesome too, he’d let us do whatever, and whenever I’d ask him if it was OK to do something for a assignment, he’d just say, “Sure, do whatever you like”.

I loved my AP World teacher. He was so witty and knew how to make the class laugh. Lectures were never boring. Also, considering it was a freshman class, he really helped ease our transition into using the higher level textbook and how to take notes effectively. I miss him.

In HS, I loved my IB Mathematics HL and IB Computer Science teachers. Absolutely amazing people who shaped my views and have me now going to mathematics and computer science.

In college… it’s Dr. Po-Shen Loh. This man is infectious.

Art, German, Pre-Calc, US History, and English III teachers, theyre all absolutely hilarious!

AP English: We get the work done but she is the nicest person ever and makes everything fun. Also we have our book discussions in unusual places, we are having our upcoming Catcher in the Rye discussion at a local bakery where we will eat rye bread.

Honors chem (not a current teacher): Actually hated the class when I was in it, but now that I am gone i miss it. She is sort of crazy but makes sure that we learn.

Also love my drawing, fiber arts and art history teachers. They are also just super nice/awesome!

My math teacher, because he wants his students to get A’s and gives us ample opportunities to get help. It’s great, and he’s fantastic!

USB Director
The guy loves the students and what he does. He is so involved and practically lives at school.

My French Teacher: This is my third year of having Mr. Rogers (He’s our only French teacher) and I love it! I originally applied for Latin, with French as my second choice, but now I am SO happy that Latin was full. He’s really inspired me, and I actually want to double major in French and Physics in undergrad, so that I can move to France and teach Physics there :)

My IB TOK Teacher: Mr. Taylor is hilarious, and even though he takes teaching seriously, he’s realistic. He doesn’t assign 50 page papers due in 4 days, or anything crazy like that. His basic attitude is, “IB is hard enough for you guys, TOK should be a breeze.”

That’s all I can think of right now, but I’m sure I’ve had other great ones too!

My US Gov teacher… He is so corny its actually funny and you can kinda tell he loves what he does. It actually helps and makes our class want to be there…

I love my teacher…its my mom

homeschooled

My Orchestra teacher is awesome. Not only is he an excellent player, and he’ll play for us from time to time, he is very passionate about music, teaches it and talks about it in a way that makes it very interesting, and stresses the idea of being relaxed. He also tells very interesting stories.

I practically idolize my APUSH teacher. He’s such a great teacher and man. The fact that he’s a middle-aged petite man who drives a VW beetle and listens to great music makes him only all the more awesome.

My math teacher. I’ve had him for three years. He’s insane and loves to say crazy things. It’s awesome. He’s absent-minded and scatterbrained. Which might be why he called me Ashley three times the other day…

Anyway, I love having him for a teacher…But, one day, I want his job…
