Just thought I'd start a thread talking about our high school teachers. Maybe you had a teacher who was a huge inspiration to you, or maybe you had completely crazy teacher. Share your stories with CC :)

I’ve been inspired by several of my teachers. In fact, I’ve got half a mind to become a teacher in life. I used to have no clear career ambitions, but the more I think about it, the more I think that teaching is something that I’d honestly enjoy :).

Sensei I love you! I gave up Journalism just to have you again.

I love you too young grasshopper

I don’t know about high school teachers, but my 8th grade science teacher always told all his classes to NOT procrastinate. Ever since then, I learned to never procrastinate because I procrastinated quite a bit in middle school.

I had a completely crazy history teacher: he spent all the time telling stories about his travels instead of teaching- he’s killed a sheep in Mongolia and was shot at (while in his underwear, of course) in Burma. His class was good for sleeping and catching up on math homework.

My biology teacher was probably the most passionate teacher I’ve ever had. He cared so much about the subject he taught and because of this energy, we all learned a lot and enjoyed his class greatly. However, the teacher who had the most impact on me was my 8th grade English teacher. She saw my true potential as a writer and I had a very strong connection with her. She also challenged the class and made her assignments very personalized.

This past school year (11th) my view of teachers changed significantly. I took 4 AP classes and was expecting to have inspiring teachers. What I got was far from that and makes me now have little respect in teachers. My APUSH teacher, who everybody seemed to love, set many people up for failure on the ap test. She seemed to think that “minor” events mentioned in American Pageant would never show up on the ap test. One event that I got particularly angry over her about showed up on at least two practice tests I took, the ap test, and the June USH subject test! My other ap teachers were far worse and in no way deserved to teach ap classes. I have only had one inspirational teacher in my entire education and she is far better than any others I’ve had.

I haven’t exactly had an inspirational teacher yet (only rising sophomore), but I’ve had plenty of crazy teachers LOL. For instance, my history teacher last year basically taught us his opinions of everything that was going on in the world today, especially in politics, and called everything he didn’t believe in “bunk.” He also told me my second semester project was “too detailed,” after telling me that “if you’re going to make a powerpoint, it better be good.” ohmygod, going to die if I have him again for theology junior year (he’s very Catholic lol).
