What would I need to do to teach college biology? I have been planning to teach high school biology but was wondering what I would need to do to teach college? I'm assuming I'd still major in Biology and then get a Masters in Biology?

a biology professor at most colleges needs to have a phd

It is possible to teach lower-level college courses or to co-teach a course with a PhD if you have a Masters. One of my teachers last year for a 1-credit intro to research bio class had a Masters, not a PhD. This same teacher also co-teaches introductory biology and co-teaches anatomy and phys (with PhD-holding faculty).

But if you want to teach legit upper level classes, conduct research, have more autonomy, you need to have a PhD.

In California, Masters makes you eligible to teach community college (though in practice, I'm told that you can't be picky about employment without a PhD, even at the CC level).

I'm only speaking based on hearsay.
