Tec Recs - Academic Subject

For my teacher recommendations, is it ok to have my AP music teacher write me one of the rec letters? He taught me music ever since sophmore year and knows me very well. The commonapp says to ask teachers of academic subjects, so I'm not sure if music is included.

If music is not possible, then I have a very tough decision:
1. Gr. 11 Gifted English teacher. English has ALWAYS been my weakest subject, I got an 89 in his class (highest English mark ever). However, he doesnt seem to know me personally
2. AP Lit teacher, I just got a 54% on a quiz..., he also doesnt know me very well
3. AP History teacher, He's taught me in Soph year and has a good impression of me, but still not much outside of classroom. Big downside is that other students, with much better relations with the said teacher than me, got recs from him and are applying to the same school as me.

Which one of those three should I pick, if music cannot be done?

…

AP History

Does music work though?

I’m asking the same question in another thread, but it’s Theater instead of Music. From the answers so far, the consensus is that the subject isn’t as important as choosing the ones that know you best and will write the best, most interesting letters for you.

My concern, as well as yours, I assume, is that not choosing two academic teachers will look like you either can’t follow instructions or don’t have another academic who will speak highly of you. sigh I wish the instructions were more thorough. If I do get a definitive answer, I’ll let you know.

Unfourtunately, its teachers of regular academic subjects (Math, Eng, History, Science, etc.) You can probably have your music teacher send his as an extra application, similar to an application from an employer or someone else. I’d also say your best bet is your History teacher.

Do colleges mind recs from sophomore year?

If not, then probably your AP History teacher. :]
