Tell me about the ACT please?

I'm a rising senior and I've only taken the SATs. So, I thought I would try and take the ACT too. Can you guys give me some info about the ACT? Like, the average scores you have to get for Ivies, or other decent schools. I know there are reading writing, math and science section. How do those individual scores compile to your whole score?

And also, how does the scoring work? On the SATs, if you get one wrong, it's 10-30pts off depending on the curve. What about the ACT?

To answer your question about ACT scores at the Ivies and other good schools, take a look at: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/act-preparation/965288-should-i-retake-my-32-a.html#post1065297731

for HYP you probably want at least a 34.

For other top 20 schools, you must have at least a 30 generally.

The ACT is great because they don’t deduct points for wrong answers. I like how the test is set up, compared to the SAT. The math is fairly simple, and as long as you cram a bit of english grammar the night before, and know how to read, you should do fine.
