Hey. I'm a junior, and I just got my ACT scores (I'm taking the test again in April-- I want to get them up a bit). I haven't taken the SAT yet-- I'm taking it in May, but my PSAT selection index was a 191.
ACT:
Composite- 28
English-32
Math-24
Reading-35
Science-22 (ugh, I was so out of it by the time the science test came around)
My GPA is a 3.43 (I know, thats low)

ECs:
Scholars' Bowl- Captain
Student Council- Secretary last year
Church youth- President
Broadcasting Club- most likely in charge next year
Varsity Tennis- last year- was ranked 6/6

So, does it look like I could get into:
NYU?
U of Washington at Seattle (out of state)?
Washington College?

that's my i-know-i-probably-can't-get-in-but-i'll-try-anyway school. I also want to go to UW Seattle (2nd choice). thanks for replying... what should my ACT be to get into NYU? and my GPA- it needs serious help- how much will it hurt me?

Um... black kids, yes. At my school they make up about 1/3 of the student body. Asians- a few. Mostly in bigger cities (Birmingham, Mobile), but I'm from a small town and we don't have any. Hispanics- yeah, but most of the Hispanics here in my town are grown men who work here but live in a different town. There's such a stigma attached to being Hispanic around here; it's really sad.

For NYU, try to raise your score to a 32+. If you can do that, you have
a very good chance at your other 2 schools. Being from Alabama is a
plus for NYU, so raise your score (and you gpa to a 3.5) and you have a
decent shot there. Good luck!

Yeah, exactly. Alabama is one of those "under-represented states."

Just wondering, are there alot of black/asian/hispanic kids in Alabama?

thanks... yeah, i'm trying to raise my ACT. I'm going to stay focused during science and math this time. i know i can do better than what i have...
