A long time colleague/friend invited me to visit his home this weekend. He went through a very rough divorce. It was very nice to see his beautiful home and his new companion. She was the first person he lived with since his divorce many years ago. I have never seen my friend so happy, not even when he was married. I checked out his girlfriend and she seem like a lovely person.
We have friends with a farm in the total solar eclipse band on august 21 and they are having a party. Pulling all of our kids from school - and looking forward to it! even though it’s on her first day college, we are making arrangements for D to fly back to see it, and fly back to school.
D us HOME for the next few weeks. For a wedding and some family fun! Yippee! :-). S will arrive in a week or more.
I get to spend the evening with our grandson. He is sweeter and cuter every day!
Our 2007 Ford Focus got an inspection sticker today and it cost only $245 in repairs. Whoo hoo! It has over 185,000 miles on it. I think that’s the most mileage we’ve ever put on a car. And the mechanic said there are no problems with rust, which is almost a miracle up here for a 10-year-old vehicle.
I got my first water bill since getting the leaky toilet fixed; the total was $50 less than last time! And I called a notorious airline’s customer service department to get information for D2 for her upcoming flight, and received great service and the we wanted (window seats confirmed) in only a few minutes.
Discovered via Facebook that a HS and college friend that I haven’t seen in 30 years is in my city on vacation this week. We got together tonight for a drink and had a blast talking about the “glory days”.
D got married last weekend and all the stress and sleepless nights (on my part) faded. It was an incredibly happy day and the newlyweds were surrounded by love, joy, and hope for the future.
Nothing as exciting as a wedding, but im finally getting a/c to work in my bedroom.
I took my 30 year old blind into Home Depot for a replacement. Turns out a custom size, and I should go home and do More measurements. Back at my office, I chatted with a man with a blind store. He came out today to measure the 2 Windows, and while here, I had him measure all. He was upset there was no air coming to 2 rooms, so got up a ladder and redirected the air flow in 4 rooms.
Of cause he’s being nice to get my business, but he measured and will install. And I’m sitting on n my bed, feeling cool air for the first time in 18 years.
I got the job!
Same company different department.
My daughter got invited to her first unofficial college visit by a coach
I am not really a Facebook fan but since I have become a member of my community’s page I now realize there are benefits. By carefully reading my neighbors recommendations, I have now found a wonderful local auto mechanic who fixes my 14-year-old Honda without recommending unneeded repairs and trying to drain my bank account. Now I just need to make sure to ignore the gossipy, drama inducing posts!
S arrives TODAY!! We have both S and D home and it’s holidays in July!
I turned 60 today and I don’t feel any older than I did yesterday or the day before or the day before that…
I turn 60 this month and so far am feeling great, especially with our kids visiting for niece’s wedding in a few days. :). Happy birthday to us! :-c
I’ve been thinking a bit about the meaning of having my 60th birthday. I’m not in to celebrating birthdays in general, or for that matter of any sort of anniversary. DW and I have been married over 30 years and rarely go out on our anniversary.
So the earth orbiting the sun 60 times in my lifetime means little to me, but I’m setting my sights on a more monumental milestone, 1000 full moons. I calculate I’m currently at 782, so I’m nearly 80% there.
Every date this week reads the same forwards and backwards!!!
My mom remembered today that we had guests this weekend! Her memory is generally 5-15 minutes max.
Last night brother and SisIL had us over for a nice dinner to celebrate my birthday. Our kids and theirs played board games together for a few hours after dinner. =D> :x Tonite, H, I and our S and D will be dining at a lovely restaurant I chose and D made reservations for with a lovely view of the ocean.
Very happy–just exhibited at a conference and donated some money to enter a raffle. I won one of the grand prizes in the raffle–a 2 night stay at a lovely hotel with oceanfront room worth $1600! I am VERY surprised!
