^ Extremely difficult. But you must have faith in yourself.

I'm somewhat perplexed by the literary analysis piece... I'm torn between analyzing a rather obscure little Romantic play and behemoths like Paradise Lost.

It'll be quite dreadful if the right judge judges wrong. I could never forgive myself for botching an opportunity to go to TASP.

Have you guys put in your transcript requests and asked for teacher recs? I might ask for my rec before break, but the last chance for transcripts was today and I didn't go. That only takes a week though, so I can do that later.

Yeah for me transcripts are like 1 day turnaround so I am not worried about that. And then on Saturday one of the principals offered to write my rec without me really even asking her, she also claimed my college recs and said she would be mad at me if I didnt let her write them. :P

32 flavors - hahahahahahahaa. the literary analyisis (along with book list) is really the only one im sure about so far. and by sure about, i mean i know what im goign to hypothetically and eventually right. i really need to just buckle down and do it...

are you basically screwed if you don't know about all the major current events and stuff? most of my interests center around lower key current events. so i'm still interested; it's just that I don't keep up to date on the war in iraq / middle east conflicts... etc.

last year, i was worried about my (lack of) knowledge about current events/politics, especially since i ended up doing my issues essay on a completely non-global, non-political topic.

you don't need to any specific type of knowledge to apply (or attend) TASP, and you certainly don't need to spew out facts and statistics on the war in iraq. you do need to be aware of what's going on in the world, however, and for the interview, be able to give your opinion on different issues the interviewers may bring up. i am not political at all, and i didn't give any indication in my essays that i was, so my interview did not center around current political events. i wrote my essays on things i knew and things i cared about, and in the end that was the best i could do. so don't go and read every single copy of times/newsweek for your TASP application (although it will make you an aware and well-informed person), but you should have some general knowledge that might be brought up in the interview.

Alright, I have a question about the seminar essay. I put UT Austin at the bottom of my list. I basically said that I would probably have a great time and learn a lot, but I was not really interested in the subject and I would not want to spend a summer in the heat of Texas (I emphasized the Texas heat more than me not being interested in the subject), is that OK?

Your not gonna get penalized for telling the truth.

Last year I said i would be doing myself a quote, disservice, by attending one of the tass seminars. As long as you have some validity to your claim and you have a reason they wont hold it against you. They wouldn't ask you to specify any seminars you would not want to attend if that was the case.

TASP sounds like an amazing experience...and now i really want to get in xD

question about the teacher evaluation...since TASP is more of a humanities-based camp, would they prefer a teacher evaluation from a social studies/english teacher? Because I would love to have my math teacher write one for me, since shes one of the few teachers who enjoy writing recommendations for her students xD

BAD BAD BAD IDEA XOCIABELLA!
If you are so mathematically inclined, I think you will understand that by picking a math teacher the probability of you getting in is decreased drastically.

Haha, sorry I am just joking around. I just got off of work and I am hella out of it and tired from mopping the floor TWICE.
**
But to answer your question, for treals,** Pick the teacher that you believe would not only write the "best" letter of rec for you but who knows you well and whom you trust. It sounds like that is your math teacher so I would ask her to write the letter.

List as many or as little. :-)
No limit, you can/should also list any publications you read. No need to embellish list, lol. I know I put some books from beyond the year long period on mine, but that was because they were books that I enjoyed and felt passionate about.
