does anybody know if I'm allowed to put images in my essays? i wanted to talk about my interest in graphic design for the future careers prompt..

mc1600 - Just do it, TASP likes that kind of uniqueness, and they are definitely not a vanilla PC organization. I take it ur mailing ur essays, cuz u wouldnt be able to insert pictures online--what you could do is have a third page of images attached to that essay, since the instructions say only 2 pages of WRITING.

ajkcorner1 - i think i used a combination of stapes and paper clips--stapling the essays and clipping a complete application copy.

I hope all you TASP 08 applicants get in! It's a wonderful, revolutionizing experience that will undoubtedly change who you are in so many senses of the phrase.

aww! and I just read yall's page 42 and I definitely remember that "egg-suspended-about-to-break" feeling in my stomach. That feeling stays while ur sending in the essays, waiting for the interview, preparing for the interview, after the interview, all the way up to that hopeful day when the email pops up with the groundbreaking decision. haha. oh man, the memories. but it seriously pays off in the end:)

OMG SHUFFLE I JUST FOUND OUT ABOUT THAT DEADLINE TOO. ***? i could have sworn it said the 22nd a month back.

fhdsgfhdsghfgdhsfgsagha should i just send the rec now too?

So can anybody clear this up:

The application seems to ask for the original application + essays and then another set of application + essays, with personal retention of one set. However, on last year's thread, people were sending in all three application sets. So which is it?

OMG OMG OMG what? it really was due the 15th?!? where does it say? I told my teacher the 22nd!

Yes it is. If you go to the online application menu and view the instructions for TASP it's right at the bottom. =[

I sent them express today. It probably won't matter that much since it's still going to get there on Tuesday. (I just HAD to realize this on a Friday night.) I included a note apologizing and explaining what happened. Hopefully they won't mind?

It's true that the TASP site says that you should mail in the letter and transcript by the 15th if applying online, but i've emailed Telluride, and their message said that it would be acceptable to mail in the letter and transcript on the 22nd, or even a day or two after, even if you're applying online. i would recommend asking them yourself, though, just to be sure.

i'm really excited for the TASP, and i'm almost done with my essays... i don't think i've ever written so much. lol

um, i made an account online, but I've decided that I want to do it on paper. So i can send it all in by the 22nd, right?

^that's right.

i'm kind of worried, because i didn't tell a teacher about the letter until this Friday... lol

hopefully she'll have it done on tuesday and i can mail this all off the day of. all things considered though, i don't think telluride would get an application and see that it was postmarked a day late and light it on fire or something

Hehe. I first told my teacher it was due on the 22nd, and she was like: "I'll get it to you by next Wednesday. Don't worry. Blah blah blah."

And then I got home, checked the site, saw that the stuff was due on the 15th, and had a mini-heart attack. Somehow got to sleep that night, and the next day I went back to my teacher and literally begged her to somehow get it to me as early as possible. So she set the mark at Monday, which made me happy. Except when I came in afterschool on Monday, she said she had forgotten about it and told me to come back in 15 minutes.

I don't want to think about the quality of that letter. cough

But anyways, these essays are really giving me an opportunity to soulsearch. If nothing else (haha, probably won't get in), at least I know myself better. :P

OMG i told my teacher that i didn't need him to send it till tuesday!!!

though i am so glad that nobody else saw that till now either. I literally had a heart attack and was so mad at myself.

i'm glad i'm not the only one though :]

shi*t, is it ok to send it all on the 22nd if applying online?

wait, I was under the impression that the teacher gave you the recommendation in a sealed envelope and then you put it in along with your essays and application....
isn't that right?

yeah, everyone, TA told me it was alright to mail in everything on the 22nd even if you're applying online. like i said, though, it'd probably be a good idea to ask them yourself, just to be sure.

i think it's kinda weird that they include the message that says that you have to mail in your letter and transcript early at the end of the online application, so you're almost sure not to read it until it's already too late. i dunno...

hehe essay weekend...one question: are the essays just like whatever-write-less-than-2-pgs-addressing-topic or should it be written in like the intro thesis conclusion etc. style?

I think it should be anything that gets your point across and shows your intellectual/fun side.
lol last year 21+ ish CCers got in... is that supposed to give us any hope? I mean, sure, it's definitely just correlation, but :P it affirms that CC is indeed a skewed population...

Yes, my teacher sealed it and put it into an envelope. My bad for not being clear. I meant that her writing the letter in 15 minutes doesn't bode well for me. She likely copied and pasted a letter from another student and made changes. And then she probably forgot to put a copy in the envelope anyways. =/

last year i sent in three copies, i'm pretty sure (as in, original copy of essays and then two additional copies). i guess they changed the directions for this year? when they say "DO NOT STAPLE" for the second copy, it means don't staple the photocopy of the application together. do staple your essays together. but don't staple both sets together. does that make sense? it probably sounds more complicated than it has to be... i remember the instructions were so specific i was afraid i'd make a mistake, trying to put it all together right before hustling my ass to the post office.

i wouldn't worry tooooo much about the rec letter thing, but get it out as soon as possible. don't obsess over it so much that you end up sending it even later after getting telluride's permission. at this point, all you can do is send it immediately and work on your essays.

and the 21+ thing is debatable, since many people joined after they got in... and i don't think that has anything to do with CC at all. besides the fact you guys are getting amazing application-folding instructions and hearing about TASP from past TASPers so you have a better idea of what it is, which (hopefully?) makes you more excited to apply.
