I'm from a suburb of Minneapolis, Minnesota. I first heard about TASP two years ago as a freshman on CC. My own seminar...hmmm...one of two things: (A) A study on film music or (B) An in-depth look at Victorian Literature.

I know, A is very unlikely...but I thought I'd state it anyway.

That sounds like a really cool program. You never know with Telluride watch that be one of them, :-P.
Sort of funny you list those two, because last year the two Cornell programs where a Film related course and a Classic Literature course.

Call me a stalker,
Disneyguy, I saw on a different thread you are interested in U of C, sweet! I saw you were deliberating over the postcards (I am a big fan) I just filled out all the ones I had, definitely a different experience than you have with other schools.
Princessbell, that other program you posted about sounds so cool I can see why you are torn, :-/. I would say apply for the other one and see how that goes, then pending the other program apply to TASP. Last year for TASS I had the same sort of issue with a summer conflict, I was able to work it out that if I didnt get into TASS i would go to the other program. Hopefully they will be flexible :-)

Oh yeah, I am from the San Francisco Bay Area and I would love to see a program looking at the similarities at different political movements. Something like 'Fascism a Case Study' and using East/West Germany and North/South Korea as 'controlled' experiments or something. Or maybe Feminism and African American Civil Rights.

I'm from NY and I heard of TASP from CC and my seminar would probably be anything to do with how politics/time period influences and is influenced by culture--movies, music, fashion, etc.

I'm from a small sheepherding village on the coast of New Zealand. Ideal TASPs would be (A) Contemporary Representations of Velociraptors in Popular Culture, or (B) Iambic Pentameter in Casual Conversation: How Much is Too Much?

(Apologies for my facetiousness. Real answer: Women of Color Feminisms or Disability Rights/Theory/Movements. And alamode, I'm feeling that topic too. :) )

What I know about the WashU situation was that the university backed the program and provided housing in exchange for the chance to attract some top students for freshman admissions. However, no one actually ended up at WashU for school, so they cut it off. In short, as in so many things that are broken about WashU, it's the administration's fault.

Gasp! They're up! I want to get in so, so badly!!! The topics are so good!!! The global thing they're going for is really cool.

Haha, yeah, I love U of C. The postcards are so much fun...

I love the Caribbean Dialogs, not going to lie, there is no better seminar in my opinion.
This totally address what I want to hopefully do in my life and its black culture, and could possibly incorporate Haiti!

All of these have a certain level of global relevance and outlook is delicious for lack of a better word.

Aww... poor WashU. Though really, it's kind of hard to imagine globs of TASPers wanting to matriculate just because they lived there for 6 weeks. :/

I wonder if Telluride's trying to find another college?
