Telluride Association Summer Programs (TASP) 2016

Is this definite? Or speculative?

@bsdsj22, are the batches geographic? Or what order do they come out in?

@Leftieco

No definite order, but it seems like the Internationals get their decisions first. Makes sense since Asia is a day ahead of the States.

I contacted Telluride and the rep didn’t give me an exact date. She just said before March 15, so it could be this Friday or next Friday.

^That was from the Cornell office

UPDATE: Michigan office: Rep said “going out within the next week”

i got the email and didn’t get an interview. best of luck to everyone else

I got my email and was rejected :frowning: Sad, but it’s a good realization for college applications and such. Good luck to everyone else

I got selected for an interview!

Got the email but no interview :frowning: Good luck to everyone else who applied, though! Let us know how things turn out in the end!

Oh my god I got a TASP interview oh my god

Dear 2016 TASP applicant,

I am pleased to tell you that you have been chosen as a finalist for the Telluride Summer Programs. You are now one of 129 finalists competing for the 56 places in the 2016 programs. This year finalists were selected from approximately 1,100 applications. Congratulations!

We would like to learn more about you by means of an interview conducted during March or early April. Within the next few weeks, you will hear from a Telluride associate who will arrange a time and place for the interview. Please let us know right away whether you are leaving your area any time during the next six weeks so that we may best find an interview location and time. In the meantime, please request a letter of evaluation from a teacher or guidance counselor and a transcript from your school to be mailed to our Ithaca Office – please postmark by April 1, 2016. By that date, please also send us a paper you have written for class, preferably with teacher’s comments attached. This writing sample is not meant to be another application essay; rather, we are interested in the kinds of assignments you are given at school, and the feedback you receive. We will use this writing sample to put your application in context. (It’s important that you do this soon; see attachment for instructions.)

The TASP selection committee will meet at the end of April to evaluate your interview, essays, and supporting information, and we will notify you of their final decision by early May.

In preparation for the interview you may want to read over your application, since interviewers frequently explore issues discussed in the essays. If you or your parents have questions about the selection process or the program, please do not hesitate to contact me by mail, e-mail (telluride@tellurideassociation.org telluride@tellurideassociation.org), or telephone at (607) 273-5011.

We want the brightest minds at TASP and we won’t let finances be a barrier for you. In the event that you are accepted to TASP, we strongly encourage you to apply for travel and work replacement stipends if attending TASP would cause you or your family any financial hardship. The stipend forms will be mailed out with acceptance letters in May.

For more information about the interview process, please visit our website: http://www.tellurideassociation.org/programs/high_school_students/tasp/tasp_faq.html#interviews. At this stage in the process, we would also like to remind you of our guidelines for online networking, which we take very seriously: http://www.tellurideassociation.org/programs/high_school_students/tasp/tasp_faq.html#networking.

Bleh what a crapshoot. They sent the email 45 minutes after I called (and went to sleep)

And they didn’t even check for grammar mistakes :frowning:

"Please note, you will also receive this notification through USPS in the new few days. "

Got an email, didn’t make it in :frowning: I actually tried too… Just wondering, is anybody who made it in willing to share their essays (now that none of it matters anymore)? I want to see how I can improve personally as a writer.

Rejected.

Nothing I didn’t expect though. Time to stay positive

Rejected, but I expected it. My application didn’t really represent my ability properly.

I was selected for an interview, and I was wondering if any previous TASP attendees had any advice for this round of the application? What exactly are the interviewers asking about and looking for? Also, for the writing sample, how important is it and what is it used for? I have written some papers I like, but I normally lose them after I get them back, and TASP requested teacher marks on them… Thanks in advance.
