Temple vs Pitt

My son has been accepted to both Pitt and Temple. Wanted to get some feedback as to which might be the best school for his career interests . He eventually wants to go into law enforcement and major in criminal justice . We ( his parents ) feel a different major might make him more competitive with employers
And / or grad school but not sure we can change his mind . He eventually wants to work for the DEA ( maybe FBI). It appears temple may have a better criminal justice program , but I think pitt is the better of the two schools and maybe in the long run may be the better option. Would love any feedback . Thanks !

I think your assessment is solid. I don’t think that the major will be driving on campus recruiting options for things other than leo type fields. But after a while he’ll be fine. Many students with this background go to law school as well. Make excellent prosecutors and also a big help for the FBI too.

Pitt is a really hot school currently in terms of buzz in my area of New England. It’s a great city too.

@privatebanker thanks for your feedback . I have heard that about Pitt which is great to know ( we’re in Virginia and get a little bit of a buzz here , though state schools are still the most popular options here ). And yes , In regards to major . Just not sure if fbi would be an option as a criminal justice major.
He is leaning towards Pitt but wants to see Temple again .

FBI has a formal process. Testing - both physical and apptitude. Polygraphs for second level applicants. Background evaluations and in later stages - formal door to door inquiry with friends and neighbors.

The possession of a jd and or cpa certifications helps. Prior military is a plus. Prior law enforcement is a plus.

Criminal record or drug use. Bad. It includes asking about smoking weed. Even in a legal state it’s not good.

Thanks @privatebanker The later won’t be an issue as he really wants to get into anti drug enforcement . Think it will be what he decides to major in and pursue . He talks more about the DEA… think the track is similar ? ( law school, military experience , accounting major )?

It’s not necessary for DEA. But helps being DEA and moving to other agencies or the more elite state policing departments.

Also any of those background with the DEA type background also are good for Corp security and other highly south after careers now. Cyber security and investigations too

Thanks @privatebanker . Helpful info !
