1) I own all of Ayn Rand's books. Even her nonfiction.
2) I know all the (english) lyrics to the Internationale.
3) I think ADOM is a better game than NetHack. Doesn't mean I actually play it.
4) I went to the Church of Scientology once. I was the only person at the service. Apparently, scientologists are like scientists in that both like to send you away with mountains of literature.
5) I've been trying to go to a different church every week to see which ones give the best sermons. The Scientology one was actually pretty good.
6) I get to take a cruise around Europe in a few hours. Free pizza!
7) I only fall for intellectuals. Like InquilineKea. And these guys.
8) I've taken Algebra I four times. Now I can factor quadratics and solve first-order differential equations!
9) When I grow up, I want to program stuff for a small company in the middle of nowhere. Or teach high school math. That'd be fun.
10) Singers I like: Eminem, Avril Lavigne, Tom Lehrer

1) all of my books (including library books) have taken over 5 rooms in my house. My room was so full of books that I decided to let my old LEGO magazines take over my brother's bookshelf. Apparently he hasn't minded that.
2) my mother threw away a lot of my old childhood books and a lot of my homework in the past. I haven't quite forgiven her over it
3) Since variation in ideas/memes/things allows me to select from such variation, but I can't fully know what selection criteria I'll use in the future, I hoard everything of informational value.
4) I have checked out 165 books from my university library
5) I'm neurotic since I don't have the luxury to waste time. I don't know if I ever will. Somehow i still manage to waste time, and sometimes I've learned amazing things out of wasting time on Wikipedia, blogs, and forums.
6) I actually don't love math that much. But I found it increasingly interesting as of late
7) I don't know if I judge people or ideas too much or whether I really am fair and objective. But at least I do acknowledge that my ideas are my own and don't hold any absolute truths in them.
8) I analyze things from a "what could be true in the majority of parallel universes" perspective.
9) Unrestrained curiosity must be selective curiosity. For one must filter out stimuli to pursue a primary stimuli of interest
10) I haven't found a single stereotype that I would fit into.

Lucky bastard. Caltech is limiting me to 5 books for some reason (maybe it had to do with being a summer student; I know my siblings don't suffer such restrictions).

Actually, Inquiline, I could probably guess that most of those things would be true for you. Ha, ha.

1.) I hate feet, but mainly bare feet.
2.) When I bike ride/ski, I talk to myself (Okay, okay... here comes a rock. NICE NICE NICE! You did it! Way to not fall over, buddy. You are pretty much awesome. You should slap Lance Armstrong on the cheek, you are so much better than he is! Yeah, BABY!)
3.) I have a reallllly short attention span.
4.) I wish I could go back in time and live my childhood again and again and again and again...
5.) I'm easily annoyed by people.
6.) I'm very good at doodling.
7.) I work best under pressure.
8.) My favorite word right now is "delicious," for various reasons.
9.) I ran all summer so that I would be in the top group of runners (on my XC team), and now that I run with the top group, I'm sick of pushing myself. I just want to go back to slacking and talking about mustaches with my friends on runs.
10.) I'm a little OCD-ish.
11.) Because my favorite number is eleven, I added one more "thing that you don't know about me" so that I could have eleven of them.

lawl LesOs, 1), 2), 3), 4), 5), 7), and 10) all apply to me. ;)

Actually I can't stand revealing anything below my waistline but no one really notices here.

The other weird thing is that I actually have a mental catalogue of who has revealed anything below his/her waist and who hasn't. The catalogue can go down to quite specific things.

Though I talk to myself when I walk or run since I don't bike/ski

lol you seem quirky. Like a lot of us CCers. ^_^

Actually I wonder how I would turn out differently if I had the luxury to waste time (if I psychologically convinced myself that I always had that luxury). I actually don't know if being so neurotic about wasting time really helps me or not, but somehow most non-academic things (other than forums) bore me quickly. I dunno though, with all the free time I have, I could have easily overcome my backwardedness, but I want to study EVERYTHING.

==
Um.
11) I once had a campaign to read every single science textbook that my school used (in 8th grade). I actually finished half of the Earth Science textbook in one day. I don't know how much I remember. :p

I also tried the Physical Science textbook but somehow the equations were a hurdle.

12) I can recite the periodic table and the list of US Presidents from 1st to last (or I could do it in 8th grade)

13) I have like 13 accounts on heavengames, ~20 on the old MSN Gaming Zone, and like 8-10 on facebook (though I quit most of my fake profiles).

14) I'm a really late bloomer. I never crafted any coherent social theories until this year (I was never a prolific writer until this year), I got a really bad SAT score in 8th grade, and didn't know how to solve the quadratic equation until I was 14. =/ (but learned calculus at 15)
15) I never realized how much I love the social and behavioral sciences until now. But it is so painful having to sacrifice one subject for another
16) I haven't been socially isolated for any period in my life. In fact, I became a frequent poster at CC once again (I was originally one in 2004) once I quit using facebook notes (I never had a semblance of a social life after 2006 - my definition of a social life is "occasionally meeting and talking to people I know in school"). Somehow I like having to constantly refresh something. I actually didn't use any blogs or forums for a period of time in 2005 when I had a small social life in RL
17) I get bored with convos easily, except with a few people
18) I really like listening to the Chinese music my parents listen to. They make me twist with emotion

I read a lot, but I have trouble finding books that are really good (in my opinion).

Everything I said above is a lie, except for 7.

but have a bad ear and learn pieces mostly by muscle memory.
[/quote]
Same here! I can usually play a piece by ear if I'm just on my own and can afford to make tons of mistakes, but I'm really impressed by the one or two people in my band who can play pieces by ear as if they have sheet music in front of them!
