Tennessee Becomes First State To Offer Free Tuition To All Graduating High School Students

I agree with Romani. Undergrads can’t borrow $50k, and with good reason.

Though I’m generally rather conservative, I think that this is an excellent idea, both socially and economically. A problem might arise if private universities realize that poor students could just go to public universities instead of more prestigious private ones, so I think the risk of unintended consequences is very, very high.

Two STEM degrees + double minoring (especially one in music PERFORMANCE) + 4.0 GPA + new social science and psychology course (some school may even require humanity course requirement) requirements due to new MCAT + required clinical/hospital volunteering requirement? It just does not sound like you have known much about how to do premed yet.

Yea…,the next thing you MAY say is that because you may have accumulated so many college credits due to having taken so many AP or dual-enrollment college courses as a high schooler, you are almost at the level of college sophomore/junior and could possibly manage to be graduated in two years or at most 3 years from college!

Oh, btw, interested in Music Performance minor? Just a wild guess here: Is it because you, unlike those low SES African American students, may have had the privilege to receive some $$$ classical music training rather than need to work to support yourself in your high school years? DS’s college has plenty of preprofessional track students who have had received classical music training since 5 yo and then turn around and take introductory or close to music appreciation-level classes not meant for music majors (as the latter requires too much work) in order to boost their GPA for med school application! If you indeed happen to have such a background, at least please do it properly and take those rigorous core music classes (like music theory 1, 2, 3) required for music majors.

@mcat2 I already said I was more than fine with the program after I learned there would be a GPA requirement. I offer it my full support and think it’ll be great for the community.
