My letter did say that I had been placed on the waitlist, and that decisions would be released shortly after December 15. I received my acceptance to the CON on January 24!
@culpepper308 My D was accepted to UTK with her 2nd choice (Psychology). She is seriously considering the school but wants to try to transfer into Nursing (her 1st choice). Does anyone know how hard or easy it might be to do this?
Hi @JoanieMitch Did you see the selection criteria for Nursing for change of major applicants?
https://nursing.utk.edu/undergraduate-programs/admissions/
It looks doable except for not knowing how many open seats there will be in the program. Hopefully someone who has gone through this will respond about their experience with it.
My daughter is in the nursing program at UTK. Unfortunately it is very difficult to transfer into because there are only a handful of slots that usually open up…if someone drops out or changes majors…etc…
YOOOO should I go here or Villanova?
Depends, if you want a smaller school experience near a metro area, go Villanova. If you want a large school experience in the SEC with all the sports hoopla, go UT. I am a parent of a UT Junior in Engineering, and he is in love with the place, as are we. We live in the Balt-Wash area, and can’t get enough of Knoxville and UT.
Happy to answer any UT questions anyone has. We are out of state (but got in-state tuition through the Academic Common Market (look it up to see if you qualify).
Does anyone know if Ned McWherter scholarship decisions have been released yet?
@corrigg Can you explain how the housing system works? My son has applied for an LLC in Brown but has not been admitted yet (I am sure he will be, there are still spaces). He has been assigned a “window” of May 23-25 to choose a room. He has found a potential roommate who is not eligible for the LLC but who has the window right before his. There is virtually no good information out there on how this system works!
It’s been a while, but the housing site gave us most of the information we needed (housing.utk.edu), and they are pretty responsive if you call the number provided on that site. He loved the Engineering LLC, it was a great way to meet students who were in the same place as him.
As I recall, the LLC decision was made prior to the housing selection window because the LLCs are in specific Halls.
Make sure you check the UT email account for communications.
Thanks - looks like they updated the housing site with better information now. I think I get it - it looks like maybe the person with the earliest window can choose the room for all of them.
