I realize this is an old thread, but I was asked something similar the other day and I figured I repeat the advice I gave here.

Honestly,

Tennis is one of those sports where the best players and competition happens outside of High school (except for a few Tennis specific training schools like Bolletari, of course). Truth is, best tennis players play year round and often come out of elite public schools (or are home schooled and travel with tutors).

All Prep schools will have solid tennis programs, though the quality of each has less to do with the coach and more to do with who decides to attend that school in a given year (by high school, truly competitive tennis players have already been developed by private coaches).

It’s not like Football or Basketball, where high schools (private and otherwise) have a lock on top coaches and their programs function as breeding grounds and feeders for college level play.

My advice, again, unless you are considering ‘tennis academy’, I would use just about any other criteria to select a school other than it’s tennis program and rest assured he’ll get to play quality competition on lovely facilities.
