Tennis try-outs help?

Hi guys, I'm a sophomore and I'm in the Varsity Football team but now that the seasons over most take Track & Field Spring. But I took it last year and I liked it but I would like something new. I have NEVER played tennis. Any chances of making the team or tips? Thanks.

PRACTICE ASAP!! Get use to the racket like NOW

Depending on the competitiveness of your team and your innate athletic skill, you could make the team. But you know more than any of us about that. So, if your team is crappy and you are naturally very good at sports, you have a good shot at making it. Common sense.

It mostly depends on the quality of your team. If you’re team is really good, it’s gonna be tough, otherwise there might not even be tryouts. If you’re generally athletic, it’s easy to pick up and start hitting, but you should get someone who knows how to play to hit with you (as annoying as it is for them). At first, it’s hard to control the ball at all. Use the time now to get out and hit and you’ll reach a degree of consistency. If you’re serious go to clinics at tennis clubs or get private lessons. It will require years of practice/coaching before you can start hitting with topspin and advanced technique. In the initial stages, you’re play style will consist of tapping the ball over to the other side. Depending on how good your team is, you may or may not be able to make the team on this. But tennis takes a lot of practice to get good at so start now.

Alright thanks for the advice everyone.
