Term bill financial aid woes!

I was asked to submit additional documentation for my financial aid several weeks ago, but have not yet received word of it being received by the offices.

As a result, for all intents and purposes I currently can't view any financial awards and I'd have to pay my initial term bill in full, which simply isn't feasible for my family. I will be on campus on August 2nd - if I bring another copy of my required documents to their offices then, maybe there's a chance of my financial aid being enabled and deducted from my term bill in time for me to pay it before the August 9th deadline - but I'm not holding my breath.

Alternatively, I could possibly use the third party tuition payment plan, but I don't know when the first payment is due. The website says that bills under this plan are sent out on the 15th, but that is obviously long since passed - so I'm assuming that it's probably too late to do that either.

I'm screwed.

How on earth am I going to get my registration confirmed in such a short span of time? If anybody has any ideas on what I should do from here, it's really appreciated.

You can sign up for the Rutgers Tuition Payment plan ASAP, as the first draw is due 8/9 - at this point in the game the max amount of payments for both the fall and spring amounts is 8- we just used the fall number for spring and took off any stipends, scholarships, etc. that wont credit to spring to get a good overall number. The 8 month plan will help spread things out a bit, or at least lower the first payment somewhat until you can find what your true amount due will be and can then alter the amount through the payment plan.

Ah, thanks - there’s still the issue of processing my financial aid. I think I ought to send them another copy of my verification worksheet just to be safe. Do you know if they accept them via fax, and if so if that would take any longer for them to get to than if I handed my documents in up front? Trying to be as time-conservative as possible here.

I’m having trouble with the term bill as well. I had my paper work in well in advance, and now I’m told that the financial officer or head forgot to put a code or something. Kind of ridiculous, but at this point I might have to enroll myself into the program and hope for the aid to come in before the bill is actually do. Hopefully it’s not all loans, as I am already in 13k of debt and I don’t need anymore.

Well I was contacted the other day by the RU Student Accounting, and was told:

“You have a couple of options while your financial aid is being processed.
You can enroll in one of our payment plans, details of which is on our
website or your can request to have your due date extended.”

So that’s some relief, at least. I believe term bill extensions give you until the first week of September or so to pay them. Will call in and ask for one on Monday.
