Test Version CR 1

OH the boorish one. I put B...whatever that one was.

comparison for the tapes.

vocab- unfortunate
tapes= comparison

Good I got comparison. And for boorish I think it was elitist + shortsighted?

oh yeah that

For the mediation/obstruction metaphorical/literal question ..

my argument for mediation/obstruction is that the question asks how charlotte bronte stood between emily and the public/critics. Charlotte can't possibly literally STAND between emily and critics. .. because she's dead, and emily's dead ... she can't LITERALLY be between the two.

Now on the other hand....

Charlotte definitely meant "mediation" when the first "between" appeared. Like it said later on the in the passage, Charlotte was very protective of her sister, and she felt that someone needed to help mediate what the public saw of Emily.

However, her overproctectiveness eventually lead to actual "obstruction" between Emily's life and what the public saw of it (the destroying of documents, letters, etc).

Another anti-argument for "metaphorical/literal" is... how is "between" metaphorical? Charlotte literally meant someone should help Emily manage her public relations. If anything, the "between" used there was very pragmatic and realistic ... anything but metaphorical or abstract.

Just my two-cents.
Because I put mediation/obstruction.
And I really want it to be right :)

Fu astropuff!

lol well even if u make us believe you, the real answer isnt going to change, so calm down

Lets move on...

Other vocab and ****!!!

Guys try to remember ahhh

haha I know cc3c :( Sometimes I wish i could go up to the stupid scantron machine that corrects my test and challenge them to a debate on some of these questions. "No, the passage CLEARLY says..." "Yeah, well, I don't care that C is the right answer! E is a good answer too!"

And dude, rsamp2008 .. chillllll ?

At least isleep2late agreed with me ahha :)
We can be wrong together :(

Btw, anyone remember a question about fashion being erratic for teh vocab? was that the right answer?

fashion = ornate. I didn't get any erratic as answer choice.

I thought ornate was the one about some girls' writing style being like her father's speech style?

It was something like, "the ____ of fashion turns people off, but they don't realize that fashion IS ____" (so synonyms) -- this is really rough ahha

Does someone remember a SC question with mitigate and mediate?

I put mitigate...?

I'm going to challenge your arguments :P We won't truly know until we get our results, but I guess I can afford to miss one question lol

There is no support that Charlotte needed to mediate how the public viewed Emily. Was there a dispute? Not as listed in the passage. Why would there be a need for mediation?

Obstruction would be correct, but mediation makes the choice incorrect.

between was being used in a metaphorical sense "Emily needed a translator to stand between her and the world"

I guess we'll find out later :)

mediate is to like make compromise or something
mitigate is to make less severe, its mitigate

lolcats..actually passage supports that there is a reason why she would mediate b/w public and emily
she is just making sure emily has good reputation
i also put mediation/mediation and obstruction

I guess we'll find out. You could be right. Oh well -1 not a big deal :P

only -1? for now... *cackles

lol jk, good luck

hurray for astropuff! someone finally has some sense :)

chill out guys, gosh. she had a good explanation, don't take it personally.

how was it elitist/shortsighted?

NOUN: elitist
The belief that certain persons or members of certain classes or groups deserve favored treatment by virtue of their perceived superiority, as in intellect, social status, or financial resources.

can't boorish mean, in a way, insensitive?

ohh it was mitigate! GOOD. :D

and yeah what was the fashion one? i put something like...

unpredictable..?
