Should i go to Texas Tech(undeclared) get my 2.75 and transfer into Rawls? or should i just go to UH (Bauer) ?

I am going to Major in either Accounting or Marketing........... I like Tech but its 5hours away from Dallas, other than that it seems like the all around better school (besides in football, UH is coming up) I like the Big 12 conference though

btw i know UT and A&M are better, but the top 10% rule kept me out.

Pierre, do yourself a favor and visit both Tech and UH. You will be amazed at how different they are. Tech is better by a wide margin in almost every respect (especially football).

Pierre, you got me on that one. UH did beat Tech last season in a bizarre game in Houston. But the overall football programs are miles apart. (Big 12 vs. Conference USA, 55,000 fans at every home game vs. 25,000, huge difference in atmosphere, etc.)

It appears that you may be trying to rationalize that UH is as good as Tech for your college needs. You have that prerogative, and should not go to Tech unless you think you would be happy there.

You probably know, but Tech’s law school has one of the highest rates in the country of graduates that pass the bar exam on the first try.

Good luck with your decision. I bet you make the right choice for your personal situation.

yea i think business wise both schools match up nicely. Btw i have heard of Techs law school but it isnt ranked in the top 100. I like the Big 12 conference alot more than C USA. while U of H is a Tier 4 uni, UHLC is tier 1 ranked like 60, i think Tech was in the 200s last time i checked but i could be wrong.

UH also beat Oklahoma State lol, i think Techs football team will be pretty good this year. They have Scotty Ryan(i think) coming as a QB, while UH has Keenum returning for his senior year.

Techs a good school but are the extra 2 hours really worth it?

Pierre, you know your football. Tech fans are holding their collective breath hoping that Scotty Young won’t get drafted too high in this summer’s major league baseball draft. He may be the best recruit at QB that we’ve ever had.

I’m not sure what you meant by the extra two hours unless you mean driving time from home.

The positives with Tech are too many to mention. Unless you really feel the need to go to college in a metropolitan area, you might be pleasantly surprised at how great Lubbock is as a college town.

i didnt know he was entering the MLB draft, lol i said Scotty Ryan wow.

yea i meant driving home, i dont really mind the whole college town thing. I’ll definitely look more into Tech, on the A&M boards they were saying that tech girls are whores.(idk why some reputation thing) A girl from my HS goes to Tech, she really likes it.

Yeah the reputation of tech is the school of STDS. Still, I would pick it over U of H, this year maybe U of H is going to be better in football with tech with a new coach and all, but still football games would be a blast in lubbock.

Pierre, now I understand your previous possible bias against Tech. If you have friends that are Aggies or Aggie wannabe’s, that tells me everything I need to know.

It’s uncanny how much Aggies despise Red Raiders and vice verse. I never really understood the superiority complex that Aggies have with respect to Tech. And it goes back about 33 years for me.

I am one of thousands of Tech grads that was accepted to A&M, UT, and Tech. I was actually recruited to both Tech and A&M to play a major sport.

I have lifelong friends from basically every well known school in Texas. Here is what I believed when I went off to college in 1977, and still believe today…Aggies and Red Raiders and Longhorns are MUCH more similar than they are different. If you don’t believe anything else I’ve told you, I would hope that you believe that statement.

And EVERY adult Aggie that I know will tell you that the girls at Tech are second to none.

For every STD comment that Aggies make about Tech girls, Tech people will comment about the ugly girls at A&M. Aggies say Tech kids are all drunks, Tech says Aggies are all interested in sheep. Aggies refer to Red Raiders as Techtards, Red Raiders refer to Aggies as Faggies. Etc., etc., etc. The banter goes on forever. The older you get, the more you realize how silly all that stuff is.

Your friend that goes to Tech really likes it, and your friends that are Aggies diss it. Usually it’s best to believe someone that actually goes to that school over petty differences stated by rivals.

At the end of the day, it’s all good. If you go to UH or UT or A&M or Tech, you will get a good education in the great state of Texas. Good luck to you.

According to a former student at my high school who has attended, Texas Tech and Houston and about the same prestige/difficulty in regards to academia. Personally, I would pick UH over Texas Tech, simply due to more of a possibility of getting an internship early on in college, considering how big Houston is comparably to Lubbock. However, it does seem that UH has a commuter school feel to it, so obviously that would need to be taken into consideration…

UH was a commuter school, but that image has slowly changed over the years. I invite you to make a visit to the campus. I think you will be impressed. As far as academics are concerned UH is a tier One university now, whereas Texas Tech is not.
