Hello everyone.
I wanna transfer to one of these colleges and have no idea about any of them tbh. my major is computer sci with gpa 3.7.
I know Texas tech is kinda better in ranking but I didn’t hear good things about the city.
but Texas state is in the awesome place but the education level is not that good(( or maybe im wrong)).
Is Lubbock that bad? is Texas state is a low-level university? which one is better for finding a job in near future? classes?
everything, any experience is helpful and I m so appreciated for that.
I grew up in Lubbock. It’s not that bad. It’s a city of 250,000 so it is obviously more limited than San Marcos, with its proximity to San Antonio and Austin. If you are a real city person, you probably won’t like Lubbock.
That being said, many students who come to Lubbock expect to just bear it and end up liking it. The people there are uber friendly and extremely proud and supportive of Texas Tech. I agree with you that their CS program is better than Texas State. You should visit if you can and just walk around the campus to get the vibe. Greek life is very big at Tech. Are you in a fraternity/sorority?
Here are a couple of Tech stories that are just quintessential Texas Tech to me:
In the computer world, the school you graduate from makes virtually no difference. In fact, Texas State has some key advantages. You’re exactly between two major cities. This means internship opportunities and job prospects. The only reason Texas Tech has more brand equity is because it’s in the Big 12 sports conference with a nationally ranked basketball program. Other than that, the CS programs are virtually identical. Texas State is built right on the San Marcos river, which is a huge swimming hangout on hot days. You’re 30 minutes from 6th Street in Austin, and 45 minutes from Fiesta Texas.
