Texas vs. Minnesota vs. Washington

The three easiest schools on my list for me to get into are UT Austin, U of M, and UWash. Which one do you think would be best to attend? Some stuff about me:

  • My intended major is physics, and eventually I want to go to law school
  • I chose these three schools because they're located in urban areas, which I think are cool and also the many research/internship opportunities there that wouldn't be available in a more middle-of-nowhere college town
  • Also size, which kind of relates to the previous bullet
  • Rankings are another big factor
  • What I'm looking for in a college is good academics, a good atmosphere, tons of things to do, and a generally tolerable student body
  • Other than that dorm quality and the quality of the facilities are a factor

So, overall which one do you think is the best place to go to school and has the happiest students? It’s really hard to figure out from online reviews, since those basically act as the complaint department (and every school has complaints). I know it’s rather subjective, but which one do you think is best?

Law school is very costly, consequently, you should attend which ever school is least expensive. Are any of these schools in state for you?

  1. Whichever of the 3 is in state.
  2. If all 3 OOS, I'd pick UT-A (followed by UWash). Austin is a great college town, UT has an excellent reputation.

OP’s other posts indicate a New York resident.

What’s wrong with Stony Brook for physics (or CS as you mention in other threads)?
