Textbooks for Bio, BC, Euro?

Which textbooks are the best? Why?

Campbell’s for Biology.

Calculus - i used Calculus 8th edition by Ron Larson, but I heard Calculus by Steward was better. I learned recently that there’s the new Calculus 9th edition by Ron Larson AP edition.

European - I bought The Western Heritage since 1300 AP edition by Kagan, and many people who bought it says they did well on the AP exam

Biology - the most common ap biology textbook is Biology by Campbell.

Campbell’s for Biology is definitely the best. And I loved Stewart’s Calculus for BC.

i will be taking AP chem next year (as a junior) and our teacher has provided us with Zumdhal 7th edition textbook

I cant compare it to other AP chem books bc i haven’t had previous exposure to them, however, I can asses the Zumdhal----its a little dry but has tons and tons of chapter problems and comes with a handy student guide that reemphasize the strategies used and mentioned in the textbook

hope this helps. sorry if it doesn’t.

^I don’t think the OP is taking AP Chem…

But I agree with what you said about Zumdahl’s.

fairy_dreams…I haven’t taken AP chem yet because i am only a raising junior and our school only offers it only during 11th grade

i thought that was clear in the beginning of my post? :)

It was crystal clear. I’m actually in the same situation as you.

But my point was, the OP wanted advice on Calculus, Biology, and European History. Not Chem.

I actually found Larson’s Calculus textbook better than Stewart’s, but that’s just me

@ Stimulus: Can you explain why?

I should mention that for Calculus, I’m definitely anticipating needing a textbook with very good explanations both of the general concept, as well as exceptions and the more gnarly problems. Math is definitely my worst subject.

@Eaglesforlife:
Thanks, but I actually took AP Chem as a junior too (and used Zumhdahl too!)

wow i feel completely stupid…sorry for misreading the title

haha. It’s okay. I was confused at first too :]

My school used Campbell’s for bio too. I think my teacher said something like 75% of high schools use that book for the AP Bio test.

I feel that Larson explains the topics really well, and he explains everything in a manner that may seem hard to remember, but then his examples really show you how to solve problems and you’re good to go

Stewart, although good, seems to not elaborate enough

I’ going to go against popular opinion and say the Solomon books are good for AP BIo. For me anyways, Campell’s were a lot harder to understand athan Solomon.

Which book by Larson are you guys referring to?

Is it Calculus w/ Precalculus: A One-Year Course? Because I already finished that book in my school’s precalc/intro to calc class.

I should have been more specific with the title. the book I used was Calculus with Analytic Geometry, 8th edition by Larson. For me, AB is chap 1-7.2, BC includes AB plus three more chapters (8,9, 10). I don’t know what calculus textbook by larson the people are using.

Is that the same textbook as everyone else was referring to?

bump ten char

Modern European History for AP Euro
