Textbooks

I've received my schedule and have gotten the link that asks if I'd like to order my textbooks, however the textbooks are pretty expensive? Also should I order/get them right away and is there another alternative for getting textbooks via a cheaper method?

You can buy them on amazon or other method online. Idr what the “Buy your textbooks” link has you do but it’s probably the bookstore which is the biggest rip off in the history of man.

Also you could just wait til the first day of class and see if the book is going to be that important.

some books are not important and not necessary to have. Also, email your professors to see if an earlier edition of the book will suffice (sometimes problem sets are assigned from newest edition). If so, then buy the older editions, they are much cheaper. But first, find out if you need the book at all.

I would also suggest that if price is an issue, you may want to either split a book with a hallmate or just borrow from them. If you’re taking ECON001, PSYC001, BIOL001 or anything in the MATH intro sequence (103, 104 or 114), just don’t buy the book and borrow from others, since it is a guarantee that SOMEONE will have it.

Half.com is a good resource, as is Abebooks.com

Finally, consider waiting until you join some campus groups. Once you do, you’ll have no problem getting a lot of the books you need from friends!
