When do you find out which textbooks to buy? Where would you recommend I buy them from?

As soon as you find out which classes you are taking you are good to go. You can order from the bookstores on campus like Illini Union Bookstore (My Fravorite), efollets, and TIS (Seems cheap but really isn't). You can look up your classes in their websites, order them, and they usually give you a few weeks to exchange books, or get your money back. If you want to save real money use http://www.illinibookexchange.com/ students are connected selling and and buying to each other. You can buy from online bookstores (e.g. Amazon), I found http://www.bigtenbooks.com/ , which is useful if you want to find the cheapest available book.

when you finalize your classes, try contacting the prof, or looking for the class webpage/syllabus.
