This thread for, but not limited to, Thai students or students studying in Thailand.

Okay, so what are your thoughts, ideas, inquiries, suggestions on the college application process or universities in general? Share them here! :)

Is anyone considering UBC? That’s my dream college.

Hey Iris!

I haven’t looked into the UBC yet, but from what I’ve heard, UBC accepts the IB Diploma with wide open arms. I don’t think you even need to take the SATs! Lucky you! :D

"UBC receives more IB scores sent from applicants than any other institution in North America. UBC will evaluate students based on their IB anticipated scores and recognizes students taking an IB course are taking a challenging academic program. (IB Higher Level courses are eligible for advanced credit at UBC).

The university has a long history of evaluating IB students and can confidently say that IB Diploma graduates are very well prepared for the learning environment at UBC – one that is often multidisciplinary and experiential."
Yeah, there’s not a lot of Thais. But I’m pretty sure more will come when the application process starts again :/

How bout you? Where do you think you’ll apply?

I will apply to UNC-CH major in journalism. That is where I want to go to the most!!

Oh, cool. That’s one of the reaaally good journalism colleges!

I guess I want to go for UW, Seattle. I mean, the weather’s nice, and I know people there. I don’t really have a dream-college, I think I’ll just go to whichever I got in! lol.

Are U from thai or int school??

Hey everyone!
do you know any Thai students who got accepted to Stanford or ivy league schools this year or last year? I know that it is generally hard for Asians to get accepted to these schools. However, do you think Thais would be considered a minority? I don’t know… just want to hear some of your opinions : )

rich Thais will generally have no problem getting in :p

My senior at my school get accepted in Harvard last year.

I don’t think so.

Wow i bet ur school is a top school in Thailand? Is it an international school? do u think Thais are considered a minority? Will colleges look at Thai applicants favorably? Do you think they tend to accept Thais to enrich diversity?

@stilldormant
Yehh I am from (so-called) TOP thai school.
I think they will accept us for diversity.

Anyway I didn’t apply to Ivy so don’t expect anything about me so muchhh.

@creamania:
Are you from MWITS? I met a few students from that school last week.

No, I’m not Thai in case you’re wondering.

All the best for apps!

@082349

I am not from MWITS.

Ok I finished the whole application process. I ended up applying to a few safties who offerend scholarships and rejected from Cornell (1st Choice). I don’t know what happened, I was confunded and lazy, missed several deadlines, decided not to apply to several universities planned. My GPA was lower than expected and the flodding postponed my SAT Subjects, so I missed a few deadlines. I wished I could’ve applied to a few more higher-ups. I wish I had more time, I wish I wrote more essays.

Overall, I regret every decision. I hate life.

Calm down everything will finally be alright. Which Uni have you applied so far?
