I'll be a high school senior in September. This spring I interviewed at three colleges and stayed overnight at two of them. I recently found out that it's customary to send thank-you notes to interviewers, and presumably to overnight hosts as well. I didn't know that at the time, and now it's been 2-3 months since my visits. Does "better late than never" still apply, or will it seem insincere if I send thank-you notes this late? Are they really that important?

I didn't know you were supposed to send in a thank you note, so I didn't. No they are not that important or I guess I got lucky.

According to CollegeView.com, it is approppriate to send one as soon as you return home from the outing. But in all honesty, you would think if it's your first choice, that the adcoms would be sick of reading a bunch of impersonal and pretentious thank you notes from students trying to get an edge.

I wouldn't send one now, but if you have any in the fall, I'd consider it.
