Would it be ok to send a thankyou email followed by a card ? Should the contents be different? Given that it is holiday season, can it be a holiday card but email conveyed and reiterated the interest? Would it be seen otherwise?
IMO an email is sufficient.
I think it is fine to do both. And yes, a holiday card containing a restatement of how much you enjoyed the visit and the school, restating your interest and a little on how you feel you can add to the school community would be a nice way to tackle it.
Thank you. email already sent. But going through the forum, I noticed many references to sending in hand written note. Hence the question
You don’t need to send snail mail but I think it’s a nice extra touch. My kids did.
I know others will disagree. However, it’s only 55 cents and 5 minutes of your time so why not?
@doschicos can you PM me please?
Also do parents typically send in a thankyou email. Parents are called in after the kid. so, is that expected. I would love to send in a thank you email (from the parent). not sure what the norm is.
No need for parents to send thank you email. Best that things be handled through the student/applicant.
As a parent I sent thank you emails to everyone who took the time to help me or my child. I have friends who are teachers and have taught at BS and they are stretched to the limit time wise. My notes were brief, thanks for taking the time kind of note. Not why my kid loved the school kind of note.
We only did email. It didn’t hurt us. Don’t over think this detail. Do both of you prefer.
Did you all receive hand-written notes from the Admission officers? We received the notes in snail mail, is that a tradition for private schools? Thank you!
Yes, we received handwritten notes from all the schools we interviewed at.
Again, we only sent email thank you notes ourselves and it did not impact my kids’ outcomes at all.
Last year, I received thank-you postcards from just about every school. There were different degrees of details from each school. I received holiday cards from maybe half the schools where I applied.
I sent holiday cards with my photo to each school I applied along with a personalized note.
