Hey all!

I was wondering how many days after the interview should I wait before sending a thank you email? Does it even matter? Haha I'm slightly paranoid.

Also, would anyone be willing to show me what a generic thank you email would look like? What should I include in it?

I tried searching for this, but the search function won't let me search for the words thank you which makes it difficult. I've also looked through the entire college interview thread ... =/ Please help!

I would send it the day after the interview.

Send it ASAP. If you have the alum's work or home address, it would be best to send it there. If not, e-mail is better than sending nothing, which, unfortunately is what most students do to show their appreciation to someone who volunteered by interviewing them.

Here's a generic example.

Dear Ms., Mr., Dr. or if they told you to call them by their first name, dear Jane, etc.

Thank you for taking the time to interview me for XXXXX college. I appreciated learning [insert something specific that the alum told you] about XXXX college, and I continue to be very interested in attending it.

Sincerely,

Send it as soon as possible so they'll remember you!

This is a generic letter. I'm stating a disclaimer, because if you just copy what I write, you won't be geniune - so make sure you are as truthful and honest as possible. Make some references to the conversation you had so the interviewer knows you really mean it.

Dear (Name),

Thank you for taking the time to interview me. It was really a pleasure meeting you and learning more about SCHOOLNAME. Talking to you about SCHOOLNAME made me even more excited about applying because I realized that (insert-interesting-fact-that-your-interviewer-told-you-here). You were also so helpful in answering all of my questions!

Thank you again,
lawlzatyou

It should probably be a few sentences more longer, and much more detailed. But you get the gist, hopefully :)

It doesn't even have to be long., Thats just annoying...

You can just be short and sweet- Thank you for taking the time to interview me, I really appreciate it!
