So does anyone write thank you notes after auditioning? I'm torn between thinking it would be polite and business-like or thinking, on the other hand, that it's a little desperate or brown-nosey.

That's a great question and many times overlooked. Absolutely, good idea to promptly send a personal thank you note to each auditor. They should be happy to provide the correct spelling of their names. It shows professionalism and interest in the program they have auditioned for. I would recommend keeping it brief as possible except if there is new additional theatre or academic related info that can be added to your file since the audition. One example would be , since my audition for the Julliard School, I was chosen for the role of "X" in a regional production of "Y", or I will be performing with my HS troupe on the mainstage at the State Thespian Festival.

In my opinion, it is not brown nosey or desperate to send a Thank You. It's professional and courteous.

Agree;
Our son sent a quick note of thanks after each audition. Just a good practice to get into and shows interest and respect.
