Thanksgiving Break!!

RuralSon’s team did not make it all the way to the playoffs. I had made peace (well…as much as I could) with the fact that he may not be home for Thanksgiving and that I might in fact be un-inviting our guests so that I could go on a multi-day drive to see the championship game. But, it did not have to come to that. Here he is - and it is wonderful to have him home! Thanksgiving is saved.

@SevenDad, I LOVED Ender’s game, and thought it was surprisingly true to the book, the insect aliens were certainly a challenge to include!

@2prepMom: My issue with the film is that it should have been 6 hours long (to accommodate the detail of the book). I felt that too much was compressed into the time given.

I thought they did an admirable job considering how shirt the film was. My problem was that what I loved so much about Enders Game was the development of ender as a leader. They just couldn’t do justice with so little time. Also, bean is hardly more than a cameo. The kids were all too old etc etc etc. But I like enders shadow more than enders game. I think that would have been a better book to adapt.

Loved Catching Fire, looking forward to Mockingjay ;)

Yet to watch Ender’s Game. Reading Ender’s Shadow.

My wife took him back to the school today. Son was said to be so happy to be back. So was my wife who cooked upon his specific request each meal.

Taking CameoKid back tomorrow. She loves to cook and created wonderful dinners for us while she’s been home. I think I’ll miss that almost as much as I’ll miss her company
She almost never stopped talking, I’m very happy to have gotten tons of details about her life at school. Looking forward to the Christmas break in just a couple of weeks… And anxiously awaiting those first trimester grades. I hope y’all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and got lots of hugs from your kids! :)

I think we need to add another category to the “unexpected” boarding school expenses: food / fun activities on school breaks!

What with the extra groceries (when did they start eating five+ meals a day?) and all the meals at favorite restaurants, added in with the movies not seen or video games not bought, travel expenses are the least of it. Sheesh.

What a treat to have them home for Thanksgiving break…tired and ever-so-happy!

Feeling grateful and looking forward to winter break in a few weeks.

Oh, and don’t forget to add in new clothes needed from rapid growth spurts (the result of eating 5+ meals a day?). ;)

Pops2017

Absolutely agreed.
Exactly the same list of expenses!

I found that setting the little tax deductions up with a AMAZON Prime account to be a god send, especially when needing overpriced school supplies and munchies…
