Well, I heard that it’s still lower than for many OOS students at other universities. Fortunately, there are many other universities on the market.

what state are you from sanjose?
It could be possible that you are eligible for partial OOS tuition and stuff like that.
also you can appeal financial aid decisions.
Maybe your parents filed theirs inaccurately and it just slightly put you over the bar for a large volume of aid.

This being said don’t live outside of your means.
what many colleges fail to understand is
What you deserve and what you can afford are two different things.

Hi sanjose - Based on your post in the Northeastern forum, I’d say why not apply? As an URM female interested in CS, UW might very well be interested enough in you to award merit/financial aid. UW is so well-regarded in CS it seems a shame not to apply.

the uw doesn’t award aid for out of state students

(of course there are always private scholarships and federal money that one may/may not qualify for…no matter what school you go to)

Also a 3.1 unweighted gpa with parents making 90,000 make the odds that you will get any merit or financial need aid pretty slim

I understand. I had to decline UW-Bothell earlier this year because I could not afford the out-of-state tuition rates. I am sorry that you had to decline as well. Best of luck to you. :(

california. i guess i’ll still apply, just in case. thanks for the help
