Seeing as how UW is pretty expensive for out-of-state students, do they offer a lot of scholarships and financial aid to help out?

Thanks!

No, that’s why we want out of state students. We need your $$$$

What travelgirl said.

However, we do have VERY FEW merit scholarships that out of state students are eligible for, but… don’t count on it.

Yes, I second what everyone else said.

I’ll add this link – [Student Office of Financial Aid](<a href=“Student Financial Aid”>Student Financial Aid)

Thanks, UW Student! Really useful :)

Yeah darkcurls67, I’d recommend checking out the Financial Aid Estimator on SOFA’s webpage. Calculate your EFC (should take <15 minutes) and then input that guy into the estimator and see what it comes up with. As a white middle-class OSS applicant, I didn’t expect much aid. But it was only something like 11K, assuming I calculated everything right.

One of the main reasons I applied to UW, besides the outstanding CSE program and its location in Seattle, is that it actually has one of the more affordable OSS tuition rates in the nation. For instance: do a little cost/benefit analysis of paying 23K and going to UW versus paying 37K and going to UM, and the Huskies top the Wolverines by far.
