That time of year again...

So I have a question concerning the Intel Science Fair (or perhaps several, not sure yet :P).

First, as just a tad bit of background, my goal is to study anthropology with archaeological insights at Yale, and really want to utilize the upcoming months working on something that relates to anthropology (biological/forensic- not cultural). Something, simply, with remains :) However, I am not entirely sure as to what my project should be. I actually have very few ideas for a project that will get past state (or even qualify for state). I would really, really appreciate some ideas.

Second, can someone explain to me exactly what presenting at an Intel science fair is like (I'm a sophomore this year and have yet to do so).

And third, what are the benefits of doing well? My teacher explained in brief that many cash prizes are available, but I mean on a broader scale- such as scholarships and how doing well at Intel will affect my application (if at all?). If I get past state, for example, is it something notable to put on my app?

Anyway, sorry for the long post, and I apologize if this was the wrong place to post my question. I really didn't know where else it would fit. Thanks in advance!

Isn’t posting this in the Harvard forum kind of random? I mean, out of all the possible places you can post, you chose this one? I mean, okay, I would kind of understand if you posted this in the Yale subforum, but why this one?

I was just reading the Harvard forum and decided to post. It was kind of random  Anyway, thanks, I’ll repost there.
